Learn To Love Jesus

When we decide to come to Jesus we need to learn to love Him.  Loving Him doesn’t just mean giving Him praise in song.  It doesn’t just mean seeking Him in Prayer.  Those things help the love grow but even Jesus will wonder about our love for Him until we have fully devoted ourselves to Him.  To devote ourselves to Jesus means a life change within our heart.  We decide that we no longer want to walk in the ways of the world.  We decide to give up things in life that hold us back.  We decide that giving love to others is most important.  We put our faith in Jesus and not men so we aren’t led astray.  We go to church and make friends in the faith.  That they may be strengthened by the testimony of Jesus.

A true love for Jesus doesn’t come easy.  It doesn’t come over night.  It comes in our heart once we start loving others.  Once we start doing charity for those in need.  Once we start sharing His gospel with the world.  We need to have a watchful eye for the lost.  We need to find those that have fallen and help them up.  Jesus asked Peter if He loved Him.  Is Jesus asking you if you truly love Him?  Answer that question after you read what Jesus asked Peter.

John 21:15-19
15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.
18 Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.”
19 This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”

Lord Jesus, even though I am new to Your Love I seek You.  I know I have a long ways till I have fully given my life to You but I strive every day to do so.  Put in me a better desire to serve You.  A better desire to love my wife.  A better desire to love my family.  A better desire to love others.  Change my heart Lord so I can be fully committed to You always.  I love You, Jesus.
