Freely give your lives over to God. Sacrifice your lusts and desires for Him. Don’t be conformed with what the world tells you is important. Being popular and part of a specific social group is not as important as it seems. Things may look shiny on the outside but many times they are flawed on the inside. The only person we can count on at all times is God. Don’t be so caught up with watching too much TV, movies or playing video games. Spending too much time in these things are a distraction from God. We lose focus on what is most important. We lose time for Bible study, prayer and most of all God. Give up anything that is holding you back from Him. Look into your life and if anything is taking your time away from Him cast it away. Rearrange your schedule and put God first. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and you will slowly be conformed with His will in your life.
My life was once ruled by the things of this world. I would easily give way to my lusts. In college, I tried to go to all the parties and fit in with the popular kids. I would spend hours playing video games and watching TV. I was always buying the next best thing. Even when I got married most of these habits didn’t change. My marriage was on the rocks for many years. The world didn’t make me happier in life. I was always down on myself for sins I had committed. It wasn’t until I gave my time to God that a change took place. As I made more time for Him each day other things became less important. Following the Lord is now most important. I am now part of the biggest family of all. I am a child of God. I am no longer held by the chains of the world. Satan has no power over me for I belong to God. I am no longer ruled by the lusts of the flesh and give myself freely to the Holy Spirit to guide me. Living for God is more important than anything the world could ever offer.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
