Turn Away From The World

There is freedom only in Jesus. He has power to take away your chains that have you captive. Don’t let this world keep you in bondage. Nothing it has to offer will be available in the next life. The more we seek for riches our hearts will more easily be turned to worldly things. If we let pride get the best of us we will lose sight of God. Our lusts will become evident in our lives. Having something newer or better will be highest priority. Things like phones, tablets, computers and TV could start taking a lot of your time. Once we go down this road our beloved God is downgraded to second or third in life. We might go to church but our heart may not be in it. Eventually we will have less time for God. Our prayer time will be lacking. Reading the Bible won’t be as important. Don’t let this be you and if it is, change your life. Do the necessary things to put God first in your life. Give up your idols and come to God with a broken heart. Seek His righteousness and you will find true joy.

The Lord has saved my life. I no longer need things to be happy. Each day that I seek the Lord my mind is made clear. What I bring in this life, outside of God and my family, is meaningless. Nothing I gain of value will be available in the next. All God cares about is if our hearts are turned to Him. He is continually looking at our heart. He knows when the things of this world are more important than Him. A relationship with God is most important. Making time for prayer and Bible study will pay dividends in how we live our life. We need to look outside ourselves and be kind and loving towards others. We should treat our family with the utmost respect. Our actions should describe our relationship with God. Becoming a new person before God is like getting new glasses. We see things different than before. Things are much clearer. Our desire to serve and follow God is evident. Our hearts are in it for God and our pride takes a back seat.

1 Timothy 6:6-10
6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
