Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery

Do you keep the seventh commandment of God? It reads, “Thou shalt not commit adultery“. Many of you may say, sure, I am married and have been faithful to my spouse. I have not had sex with anyone but her alone. Therefore, I am keeping God’s law. Others that are single may say, I would never have sex with a married person so I am keeping God’s commandment. However, anyone that thinks this way misunderstand God’s law. Jesus said, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” The Lord says that our lustful thoughts for another person is committing adultery. It is ok to complement someone but that is different than having indecent thoughts for them. To admire the beauty of someone can lead to lustful appetites. Think about what happens when someone is viewing pornographic websites. They are not only thinking sexually about these men and women but are also in the act of it to. They are committing fornication and adultery in their minds. If you are among these people addicted to pornography or are looking upon another to lust come to Jesus before it is too late. There is a warning to all men and women who are in this sin on judgment day. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” There will be no adulterers allowed in heaven. Repent now before it is too late. Jesus has the power to save you if you turn from your sins and trust in Him for deliverance.

Anyone that looks upon another to lust is breaking the commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery”. If our hearts are filthy on judgement day we will not inherit God’s kingdom but be thrown into hell. This was where I thought I’d end up for many years of my marriage. My mind was so lustful towards women back then. I’d say such terrible things to my wife because of how I viewed women. I’d watch pornographic videos just for the rush I’d feel in the moment. However, I always felt so dirty afterwards. My conscience would tell me to turn it off but it was like I couldn’t control myself. It was as if some evil spirit were controlling my body. I also had bad dreams often. I’d wake up, falling out of bed, screaming and so scared. I felt so alone. I felt so shameful for the person I’d become. I’d tell myself, how would God ever forgive someone like me. I’d pray to God but believe in my heart that He would never love me for what I had become. However, there was a night that I prayed with tears streaming down my face for forgiveness. I didn’t want to feel the shame or sin against God any longer. I wanted to be delivered from my addictions. In this moment of giving my heart to Jesus, I felt this warm presence all around me. God’s peace filled my soul with hope. His love overflowed within me. I went to sleep so peaceful that night. The next morning, I heard this song on the radio called “lifesong”, while driving in my car. As I heard the words I could feel the Holy Spirit rush through my body and God telling me “you are forgiven, my child”. I was broken up with tears and must have looked towards heaven for minutes on end with much thankfulness. Oh Lord, thank You for your forgivingness and mercy. You are so loving and kind. I devote my life to following You. May the life I live sing out to Your great Name. I praise You. I love You.
