Grateful For The Cross

Jesus died for the sins of the world. How courageous He was to give up His life for mankind. He offered Himself freely that our sins may be forgiven. On the cross He carried our pains and sufferings that our load may be light. He felt all of our tears and sorrows. His body was wrecked for the beatings it had taken. He bled and suffered and didn’t look back. He was the offering of sin on our behalf. He paid it all that we may not have to suffer after death. If we believe in Him and turn from our wickedness, He will freely forgive us and have mercy on our souls. Those that don’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will one day die and suffer for all their sins. Before the judgement seat of Christ they will sit in fear for hell awaits them. Because Jesus loved the world enough to die for us, we have a road to heaven. There is now a bridge from death to life. For after Jesus died for our sins He rose from the dead. Jesus is the way. His path is narrow but leads to eternal life. All those that repent and walk in His ways will be saved. Endure to the end, and His promises of paradise in the kingdom of heaven will come to pass. His grace is free, through faith, and leads to salvation. Live for Jesus and believe. His gift is free for all that come unto Him.

The passage in Matthew, where Jesus dies on the cross, illustrates the pains Jesus was going through. “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” As He was suffering for our sins, He was alone. This was the only time our Lord was separated from His Father. Though it was difficult to bear he did it because of His great love for us all. My heart aches just thinking about the pains He went through for me. To think that Jesus felt all my shame and guilt, that wrecked my life for so many years, is so amazing. Nothing can match the goodness of our Redeemer. He doesn’t desire that anyone should perish but be renewed into His light. Thank You dear Lord, for saving us all from our sins. Reading about Your crucifixion brings me to tears. Your suffering for me will never be forgotten. It is because of Your great mercy that I am made new. You took me from my great wickedness and saw potential in me. You took all my burdens and made them light. How deep is Your love. How awesome is Your power to save. My desires are to live for You, Jesus. Because You are alive today, I know I will one day see You joyfully in heaven. I love You.

Matthew 27:33-50 (KJV)
And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
 And sitting down they watched him there;
And set up over his head his accusation written, This Is Jesus The King Of The Jews.
Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
