Witnessing To Mormon Missionaries

This evening the Lord truly blessed me. After I got home, I had started making food when two Mormon Missionaries came to my door. When I saw them at my door I thanked God for sending them to me. I had been waiting for the chance to share the gospel with them. What was amazing is that they were open to what I had to say. As we spoke, I told them that when I go out talking with people about Jesus that my desire is that it is less of me and more of God. That it isn’t my words adding to the Bible but His words. To start off I declared the gospel of the cross and resurrection. There take on it was that Jesus started off paying for our sins in Gethsemane and then on the cross. At that point, I asked, does the Bible say this or do your other books teach that? For the Bible teaches that Jesus died for our sins and the only place He died was on the cross. There He suffered for all our sins. We talked about the priesthood and my point on that was that Jesus was the last High Priest and that the last person to hold it. Nowhere in the New Testament does it teach on having that authority after the Old Testament. Next we spoke on prophets and that Paul taught that he wished everyone would prophesy not just a group of men. That is why there were many people that prophesied in the new testament. It doesn’t teach that prophets are the mouth piece over His church in the Bible but that God can speak to each of us. We talked about Mormons’ becoming Gods. However, Jesus said that after death we are as angels in heaven and not given into marriage. The Bible teaches that the unbelievers believe in gods and lords but those in Christ believe in One God. Even God himself said, I know not any other god.

Our discussion was very heartfelt. They tried to tell me about new teachings but we always went back to the Bible. And that the truth needs to come from Its words. The Bible teaches that all praise belongs to God and not man. When Mormons sing the song “Praise To The Man” they are blaspheming God. No man deserves praise but God alone. But in this song Mormons praise Joseph. Speaking of Joseph, they said their beliefs hinge on his first vision being true. What makes that a tricky thing to say is that there were three accounts of that same vision so what is true. Speaking of the Book of Abraham, which Joseph said he translated, in the gospel essays from lds.org it has come to be known that it was a false translation. That the papyri was really a translation of the “Book of Breathings” and nothing to do with Abraham. The missionaries didn’t know this and it troubled them. We talked about that and if he can write a false book and falsely translate how do we know he didn’t do the same with the “Book of Mormon”. Even Joseph was not a saint and up until he died he was marrying other man’s wives. God never said that polygamy was His will in the Bible and the same thing went for Joseph. Speaking of people that fell in adultery, was David. He had relations of Bathsheba and had her husband killed. However, each of us are like Him. If we look upon a woman to lust we’ve committed adultery. If we have anger in our heart we are under the same standing as one that murdered according Jesus. What is amazing is that David repented and gave his life to Him. God’s mercy was upon him and for the rest of David’s life, he wrote psalms to him. Praises to the Lord on high.

Other things we spoke about but what is important is that God’s message was declared. Biblical truths were received and eyes were opened. At the end of our discussion the missionaries said they’d research the Bible more. That they’d read the gospel essays about the “First Vision” and the “Book of Abraham”. They’d look up the journals of Joseph’s wives to see what they said. It was amazing to see their willingness to search out for the truth. Before they left I encouraged them not to teach things that the Bible doesn’t say. I emphasized with them that we shouldn’t have to add to the truth to make something true. Jesus is the way to salvation and His words are true. That Satan is the great deceiver. His will is to deceive even the elect. For that reason we must know who we are following. That our faith is built on Christ. That the Bible lifts up our faith and doesn’t tear it down. Know that if the Bible is teaching something contrary to your faith than there is something wrong with it and not the Book. There is nothing wrong with God but us if we are believing in something different than what the Bible teaches. Thank You Lord for using me this day to declare the Bible to them. Thank You for opening their eyes to Your truth. As I spoke to them, I could see them thinking in their minds. They were pricked to the heart by what the Bible taught. I know that the Bible is pure. That it is the Word of God. I know that it should not be added to. May the hearts of these men be changed this night. Give them a heart to know Your truth. May these seeds take root in their hearts. I love You Lord. You deserve all our praise. I praise Your Holy Name.

Exodus 34:14-16 (KJV)
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
15 Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
16 And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

Deuteronomy 17:15-19 (KJV)
15 Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the Lord thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.
16 But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the Lord hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

Psalm 51:1-4 (KJV)
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Psalm 96:1-4 (KJV)
1 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

Proverbs 30:5,6 (KJV)
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Isaiah 44:6-8 (KJV)
6 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Matthew 5:21,22,27,28 (KJV)
21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Matthew 22:23-30 (KJV)
23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27 And last of all the woman died also.
28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Matthew 24:24 (KJV)
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 Corinthians 8:3-6 (KJV)
3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

1 Corinthians 14:29-31 (KJV)
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

2 Corinthians 11:1-4 (KJV)
1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJV)
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  1. “No man deserves praise but God alone.”

Except for, you know, all the people/objects that receives praises endorsed from the Bible.

Gen 49:8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise (חוה/προσκυνεω): thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down
    before thee.

Deut 26:19 And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.

Psa 49:18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.

Psa 56:4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will
not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Psa 56:10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

Prov 27:2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Prov 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also,
    and he praiseth her.

Prov 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that
feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Prov 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Eccl 4:2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.

Song 6:9 My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her
mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.

Isa 62:7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make
Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Jer 13:11 For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I
caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of
Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a
name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

Jer 33:9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

Note also one of the glorious promises to those who endure in Rev 3:9, 21 (this is Christ Himself speaking through John):

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee . . . To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
