Evangelize: Downtown Boise With Prayer

This was such a wonderful night. God surely opened the doors to me spiritually. I started off tonight hoping to meet up with a couple of friends of mine to evangelize the streets of downtown Boise but they were running late and that actually made things better. I hadn’t evangelized by myself yet and tonight was something that God needed me to do to really know what he has in store for me in this ministry. That I can be used by Him, no matter what. To start off my night I was able to talk with this this homeless man and his fiancé. They were sitting down at this corner, when I sat down next to them. I wanted to see how they were doing. It was then that she said she was pregnant. It also appeared that she was very cold. So I told her I’d grab a coat in my car and come back and give it to her. When I got back, I handed it to her and she put it on immediately. She was so thankful. This started off a beautiful conversation. That relationship of trust was there. They could see the true love I and God had for both of them. We ended up having a discussion on Jesus. 1I asked if I could read from Psalm 119 with them and they were grateful to listen. It was so awesome to see them receive the words of the Bible. As we read from verses 1 through 12, their hearts were turned to God. We talked about walking in God’s ways and reading the Bible. In that moment, I noticed they didn’t have a Bible so I offered one and she received it. God be praised. I then prayed with them that they would stay warm and that God would watch over them and keep them safe.

Next, I met a gentleman, named Don, that was sick of living a life alone from God. He had walked in sin long enough and wanted to make things right, once and for all. He also didn’t have a Bible so I offered one to him, which he received graciously. He knew that the words of the Bible would help him get onto the right path. We then read from the same verses in Psalms and talked about the times we’ve fallen in sin and how we don’t want God to forsake us any longer. He told me that he wanted to start writing a book on his life being homeless and being lost into drugs and how God helped him through it. How amazing is that? After saying goodbye, I was able to talk to this gentleman named Charles. He is also homeless and going through financial issues with his wife. He needed direction from God on how he’d have enough money if he accepted a job. How he’d have money in those two weeks he wouldn’t get paid till his first paycheck. So we prayed and asked the Lord to give him the guidance and direction he needs to go forward in life. I was grateful to see his desire to seek the Lord. Lastly, I spoke with a lady named Caroline. I had seen her before and she had been hopeful to find a job soon. Those plans didn’t work out so well. Her fiancé also has ran into some hard times. Tonight she just needing enough money to setup a party for her daughter. I knew she needed prayer for these things but first offered to read from Psalms. She accepted and was uplifted by God’s words. That David had the desire to be restored into God’s presence after falling away from Him in sin. We then prayed that she would be warm, have the money she needs, and find a job. It was wonderful sharing the good news with her.

Normally my nights end around 9pm and when I looked at my watch it was already 9:30pm. Time truly escaped me tonight. But it was for the good of God’s kingdom. Many people were prayed for and hearts were turned to follow Jesus. His gospel message of hope was made known and His forgiveness from the cross was manifested to each of these wonderful people. Tonight, it was less about giving out tracts and more on listening to people, sharing God’s Word and praying with them. It was surely a night I will never forget. Doors were opened and I know it couldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for the Lord. He made it all happen for His Work and His Glory. I am amazed that God can use me to bring forth His Kingdom on the earth. I love each person I spoke with tonight. My heart breaks for the trials they are going through. I pray that they may have the things they need. That they may stay warm, find jobs, have health and strength and even more so find joy in the Lord. That God may be their refuge in the storms of life. That reading God’s words might become a delight. That praying might bring them great joy just to be in God’s presence.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I love You. I am amazed at your great love for each of us. This night couldn’t have happened without your guidance. Your direction has made things happen the way they did. Doors were opened and hearts were healed because of Your mercy for us all. Thank You for Your forgiveness and grace. We don’t deserve your kindness but You still deliver it. I lift up each of these people to You. Keep them safe. Watch over them. Lead them to better follow You. I honor You and give You praise. Amen.
