Break Free From Addictions

I pray that anyone that says they are a Christian truly walks in that fashion. That they don’t just say it but live it. Those in Christ have been broken free from all addictions. They are no longer in darkness but in His light. Abiding in the flesh and seeking out fleshly lusts is addiction and contrary to God. 3There must be a life change, through the blood of Jesus, to be a true believer in Him. An addicted person is living in darkness. You cannot be for Christ and still live in this fashion. You are breaking God’s commandments if your flesh is of the world. 4“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” To believe in Jesus is to do His will and not the lusts of your flesh. I will focus on three addictions that Satan has a stronghold on. If you are living in these sins than your heart is not for Jesus and repentance is necessary for you to be saved. (1) Sexual Sin: Turn from your secret acts of viewing pornography and having sex outside of marriage. These lustful acts are seen in the eyes of the Lord. 1You are committing adultery in your heart each time you do such wickedness. (2) Drug Addiction: Turn from your secret acts of doing drugs. You may not see being high a sin but God’s ways are higher than your ways. When you are fulfilling a satisfaction to the flesh you are putting this above God. (3) Alcohol Addiction: Turn from your alcohol obsession. 2When your flesh is given over to eat, drink and be merry you are not living for God but your flesh alone. 6Control your fleshly appetites and learn to say no.

Now is the time to cast out all darkness. Your soul is in jeopardy of going to hell if you don’t put off the lusts of the flesh and come to Jesus. 5“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” If you are suffering from addiction, you are not alone. Jesus can free you from your chains if you let Him. You can only go so far on your own. I tried this and failed numerous times until I broke free from my Sexual Sin. Pornography ruled my life and no matter how hard I tried I could not stop looking at it. My eyes could not erase the images. If any of you struggle, you know how this is. Your addictions may be different but in God’s eyes, they are the same. Through Bible study, prayer and changing the music I listened to, to Christian Music did it for me. I came forward with brokenness and Jesus took me in. I asked for His help for I needed a Savior. I gave the Lord my heart and He responded with mercy and forgiveness. That day, my thoughts were turned to Him. My desires were changed to walk with Him. He even helped stop the cravings for the lusts of the flesh. I know that God is all powerful and for that I sought after His healing power. Be freed today, through the blood of Jesus. You are loved and are one step away from being back in the arms of Jesus.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, You are my life and my joy. I am no longer ruled over by the flesh but Your will. The Spirit has filled my heart with peace. I have found eternal joy in Your presence. I love to walk in Your light. I love You. Amen.
