Evangelize: Downtown Boise With God’s Power and Word

It was such an amazing night to go on the streets and pray over people and share God’s Word. 1Though there was few of us, eyes were opened to the goodness of God. His power to change lives was manifested in our prayers for the sick, discouraged and homeless. God has the power to heal people’s lives and He did that this very night. This man with back pain came to us for prayers. It was His faith that made His back feel better after the prayer was done. God has the power to do mighty works through us but the other person needs to have the faith for His miracles to take place in his life. Another man felt discouraged by people that were ridiculing him and others. His faith was in God but in that moment he just needed encouragement. So we prayed for him and asked God to strengthen him. God is the one true source of peace. After praying we just encouraged him to study the Bible and pray continually to God. God also led us to talk with some teenagers. They were believers in Jesus so we gave them gospel tracks and encouraged them to read them and then give them out to someone else in need of God’s love. On this wonderful walk, I met some singers and guitarists. We gave them some tracks and began talking about the Bible. I asked if they read it. One of them said, “yeah, I’ve read it before”. So I spoke up and told them that God deserves our time. We must put Him above all things. His commandments and teachings are for each of our lives. However, we won’t know how to obey Him if we aren’t reading the Bible daily. God’s Word isn’t something we just read once or a couple of times. It is a book for our daily life. We will easily be led astray if it isn’t continually in our hearts.

As Keven and I were standing by this bar, a women was looking out the window from upstairs. Upon looking at her, I waved a gospel tract at her. She then encouraged me to throw it up to her. Instead we walked up the stairs, in the bar, and talked with her. She couldn’t believe we actually came up there. She was wondering if we were really going to give her something. I said, of course, and handed her a Bible. She said she might not read it but I told her to keep it anyways. To just put it by her bed and if she ever feels prompted to open it to read it. This was her first steps to learning about God’s great love for her. After we left, we walked a little until we met up with a homeless lady that was playing the harp. She sounded absolutely amazing. It was like she was playing heavenly hymns. We were surprised when we found out she lost her faith in God. She said people would ridicule her when she walked into church. People acted high and mighty around her and even told her she wasn’t welcome there. This turned her away from attending church. How sad is it that this happened to such a good person. I pray that any person that says they are Christian truly act that way. If you are not showing love towards those in need then you are not doing God’s will but your own. Your pride has made you feel above others. Lower yourself a little and love one another. Anyhow, I just encouraged her to read the Bible and to make Church in her house. God loves her so much and I told her to always remember that.

Let us pray:
Thank You Lord for this wonderful night. I am encouraged just to know You. Thank You for humbling yourself to come to earth to die for us. You are my greatest example of love. I am amazed just to follow You. I love You.

Let us read the Bible:

1James 5:13-16 (KJV)
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
