Dwell In God’s Holiness

How can we walk uprightly before the Lord? It isn’t only our worship to God that helps us draw nearer to Him. It is also our dealings with other people that tell the Lord that we are on His side. If you’d like to dwell in the holiness of God then do as God directs. Be not wise in your own eyes but be wise in the Lord. It is written, 1“Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.” To walk uprightly is to walk by God’s standards and not your own. 2We show our love to the Lord by obeying His commandments. If we are His then we are lovers of God’s goodness and not the world. We don’t dwell in sin for it casteth out the light we have in Christ. To work righteousness is to do the will of God. Our good works are nothing but the works we do in the Holy Spirit are marvelous in His sight. We aren’t boasters of ourselves but boasters of what Jesus has done for us through the cross. To speak the truth is to listen to the counsel of God and say the right things even when it is hard. If the Lord dwells in our lives we are His tabernacle and lying and cheating has no place in us.

The Word of God says to not be backbiters. How can we attack another if we love God. Slandering another person’s character is against God’s nature. If we are His then His way of life is ours as well. Instead we lift up others and be kind to one another. We are taught not to do evil to our neighbor. But who is our neighbor? Anyone who comes in contact with us or have in the past. Tear down your walls and forgive. Go out of your way to help those in need, instead of just staring at their problems. We are taught, not to take reproach against one another. Don’t be so disappointed in people but see the positive in them. Be less critical and more loving to those you talk to. If you are in the wrong, then let it be known. Take criticism and learn from your mistakes. If these things seem difficult to do then ask the Lord to make you stronger. You can’t do everything on your own will but you can do all things with God in your life. Reading the Bible daily will help you conform to His will over your own. In doing this and much prayer, God will renew your minds and change your heart.

Let us pray:
Thank You Lord for helping me live for You and not the world. My flesh is weak but You make me stronger. Living for You is difficult on my own but all things can be done with You by my side. I love You. Amen.
