Preaching On Abiding In The Spirit

The Holy Spirit is what brings us do God’s will. We are led by the hand of the Lord when God’s Spirit is with us. I am so grateful for Jesus. That He would be so gracious enough to not leave us stranded in this world. We would be so lost if we didn’t have a light to guide us. Now that Jesus has grafted us into His fold the Spirit of God is unfolded unto us. Through the Spirit we are given 2“the hope of righteousness.” The world cannot offer what God can do for us. As we seek Jesus in our lives we are no longer blind but can now see. Our faith gives us new sight. This was the message tonight. To those that would listen, I encouraged them to read the Bible. It is so important to let God’s word speak to our hearts through studying His words and through prayer. In this, we can know the Lord personally. Our gift from God is that we can live in freedom from sin. Only Jesus can do this because He paid for our sins on the cross. He gives me freedom from all my past transgression. Because of this, I know He can do the same for others. Just as He renews my mind daily, for I am a sinner, He can change the violist person to follow Him. To everyone that would hear this message, on the streets tonight, and now, I pray that you let these words sink in. It is more important to gain eternal life in heaven then find temporary pleasure in the world. All those on the fence of making the first steps of coming to Jesus, He asks, 2“who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?”

God speaks plainly through the Bible. He teaches us what pleases Him and what does not. To all those that say they believe in Jesus, but still dabble in drugs, like cigarettes, I encouraged the people to stop smoking. To not stop for my sake but for the Lord’s sake. To come fully to Jesus. 1Our bodies are a temple of God and the question is, are you striving to keep it clean. As I talked with these two gentlemen about Jesus, these words pierced their hearts. It was like a transformation occurred by way of the Spirit. They saw that they were sinners and needed God’s grace. I encouraged them to get into God’s Word and let it change the way they think and act. Paul said, 2“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” It is true that when we abide in the love of God that our shield of faith is raised. We are able to 2“love thy neighbour as thyself” for the love of Jesus abides in us. We can have joy for a moment in the world but in the Lord there are greater feelings of 2“love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance.” How much more amazing is this gift from God. I pray that everyone that was taught tonight by God’s Word lets the Spirit do the rest. We haven’t found true happiness until we have discovered the Lord personally in our lives. There is nothing I’d rather be encompassed about with than the joy that God gives. To God be the glory for the seeds that were planted by His words.

Let us pray:
Lord, I pray for the people that had an ear to hear Your message tonight. So many seeds were planted because You opened those doors to us. One man gave his life to you, straight out of prison and only You could do such miracles. Thank You Lord. May the Bible, that he received tonight, change his life. May our prayers be heard for his safety and well-being. So many people were convicted to follow You over the world. I pray that they come to You and that You can break their chains of addiction in their lives. I pray for the homeless we encountered that they may be fed not only physically but spiritually. That more people will be generous to help them get back on their feet. May the Word of God encourage them through their trials in life. Thank You Jesus for feeding my soul with Your Spirit. Thank You for using me to share Your message of hope with others. I know that I can do nothing without You in my life. You do great things not only for me but for anyone that repents and turns to You. I praise You Lord. I love You. Amen.

Let us read the Bible:
Note: Any Numbered References, found above, are listed below.

11 Corinthians 6:15-20 (KJV)
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2Galatians 5:5-8,14,16-25 (KJV)
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
