Utah Mission Trip (10/12/17)

Our mission trip started, this Thursday. What a marvelous day to get out and do God’s work. We traveled from Boise to Ogden, Utah, to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Though it was late, after we arrived, we decided to walk the streets anyways. It was a cold night and not many people were out but God still blessed us immensely. After parking our car, we were led to walk on the grounds of the Ogden temple. As we walked in front of it, we were compelled to wait and talk to Mormons as they came out. As we waited, we were able to talk to so many Mormons that were leaving the temple. We called out to this one man, who was walking out and reluctantly he came to us. We mentioned that we were out praying for people and asked if he needed prayer. His response was, yes, so we prayed with him. We then started a discussion on the temple, of which, he was open to. Keven asked him what took place in the temple and all he could say is that it is holy and can’t be talked about. We asked if what took place is a secret and he said, yes. We then quoted from Jesus, 3“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.” We explained that God never intended to keep secrets from us. 1If we seek Him, we shall know his great promises for each of us. If we come unto Him, the veil will come off our faces that we might see. The darkness will be dispersed that His light may guide us.

2While talking with this man, Patrick brought up the fact that during the crucifixion of Jesus, the veil of the temple was ripped in half. Jesus is the Lamb of God and the last blood sacrifice. The blood sacrifice, being made in the temple, by the high priest, for the sins of the people was no longer necessary. This was on the day of Passover. The day that Jesus died for our sins on the cross, we were given full access to God. We no longer have to go to a person to obtain forgiveness of sins but God alone. 5The Bible teaches that our bodies are now the temple of God. We are to keep it holy. We then asked him why the Mormons still have a temple, made of stone, when the Lord 4“dwelleth not in temples made with hands”. The veil, nor a temple building is necessary for God any longer. We are now the temple of God. This really got him thinking. He didn’t have much of an answer to what the Bible teaches about the temple. All he could do is bear his testimony that it was true, even though the Bible speaks against it. Just like when I was Mormon, when I didn’t know what to say, I would just bear my testimony. It was wonderful to testify of Jesus to this man. Praise God. After leaving the temple, we talked with few skate boarders, on the streets. A couple of the teenagers heard the gospel and received tracts. One of them also received a Bible with great joy. He was grateful to receive it. They were much more humble to receive God’s Word. Praise the Lord.

Let us pray:
Thank You Lord for this beautiful day. Thank You for leading us safely to Ogden, Utah. I know that we were led to this place for a reason. You prepared the way for us that many seeds may be planted. The ride in was glorious. Learning with other believers in the car was wonderful. It is amazing how much more I learn when two or more hearts have the same love for You. Lord, Your love has changed me. You move me. I am encaptured by Your beauty. I love to rejoice in Your great Name. Thank You for sending us into Your harvest. We delight in bringing the lost to You. We pray that many souls will be brought out of darkness and into Your light. Bless those people we spoke to this night. Spark a revival in their hearts to know You. I trust in You, Jesus. I love You. Amen.

Let us read the Bible:

1Matthew 7:7-11 (KJV)
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

2Matthew 27:46-51 (KJV)
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

3Luke 8:16,17 (KJV)
16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

4Acts 17:22-25 (KJV)
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

51 Corinthians 6:15-20 (KJV)
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
