Parable Of The Talents

If you have talents, there is one person that can take them to the next level. His Name is Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Trust Him! God has already give us all many gifts and talents but what we do with them is very important. Some things, we know about now and other things, the Lord will bring to our attention at a later time in our lives, when we are ready. As the parable of the talents reads, God gives 1“five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability.” Because we are all different, God gives us all different talents. With them, we are able to strengthen the members of His church. What we learn from this parable is that two out of three people did well with their talents. The two were so faithful to God, as to double their talents. It says that they traded them and in turn doubled what they had. When we discover our talents and come to God with them, He does the same thing. He transforms them and increases the effectiveness. And because of that, we are able to do many other things, therefore doubling our gifts. To those people that allow the Lord to increase their talents and do a work in their lives, He says to them, 1“well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” What a great gift to those that trust in God.

With every good story of people following God’s will, there is always somebody who is not. In this parable, there was one person that had a talent but then hid it and eventually gave it back to God. Here is his excuse, 1“Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth.” You can see here that this man did not trust in God with his talent. Instead, he made excuses with it. He knew the Lord would one day find out what He was up to and instead became afraid. He went so far as to take what gave and rid of it from his life. This parable is not just talking about one man, it is talking about the millions of people that are also like this man. Instead of allowing the Lord to transform their lives, they instead decided to be believers in Word but not deed. Therefore, God cannot use them for His good. These are unrepentant sinners that, unless they have a change of heart, are in danger of hell. Their belief will not save them, if it does not take them on a road to repentance in the name of Jesus. Instead, the Lord will call His angels and say, 1“cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Therefore, repent and come to Jesus today. Allow Him to cleanse you of all sin. Then, will He use you for His kingdom.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, thank You for all the talents that You have given me. What a great a gift it is to have your blessings bestowed upon me. These gifts are most precious of all, Lord. Thank You for selecting me to gain such wonderful gifts of the Spirit. You have seen what I could do in the world and have elevated my talents tenfold . I love the gift of evangelism. It truly is amazing and helps me show love towards everyone around me. The gift of teaching helps me show patience to those I am around. The gift of writing helps me think about the audience more than myself. Through Your words in the Bible, I have been obtained a gift of knowledge, that I have never known before. Through prayer, my desires have changed. Instead of thinking of me so often, I’d rather pray for one another. This has increased my love towards my neighbor. Now, all I want to do is pray with other people and see them be healed. You have put into my heart the gift of healing, which I never had before. My desire to serve You has taken my stuttering and given me words to speak. If I am able to bless another person, it is because You are working inside of me. I am grateful to be used my You, dear Lord. I love You. Amen.

1Matthew 25:13-28 (KJV)
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
