The Lord God is so willing to come into our lives and give us wisdom, but our hearts must be willing to receive it first. It’s those people that are humble that receive His divine understanding. Because they are open to the things of God, prayers are answered. These submissive individuals obtain knowledge that only God can give. This insight from God brings about peace and joy. It removes our shame and brings love into our hearts. Instead of despising our own lives, we love it, for God has made us beautiful. Solomon said, 1“he that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul.” This is so true for anyone that is being led by God. But know that there is more to life than gaining wisdom. The Lord also asks us to keep it. We do more than remember it but go about doing what the Holy Spirit would have us do with it. Therefore, God’s wisdom becomes imprinted in our hearts, so that we know how to walk and do His will. This knowledge can come by reading the Bible, through prayer, worship and simply thinking on the Lord. You may also gain understanding from God but do you keep it or soon discard it? What you do with God’s wisdom matters most. Solomon said, 1“he that keepeth understanding shall find good.” 2Being a follower of Christ means that we are also a doer of His words. We are no longer forgetful but remember what God has taught us and keep these things knit in our hearts.
Those that look to Christ are safely guided by God. Because we are quick to remember Him and what He teaches us through scripture and prayer, we draw nearer to Him daily. James said, 2“whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” Our lives are blessed as we become doers of God’s words. We read and hear God’s teachings but also love to think on them and allow the Lord to change us through every word. However, every person that reads and listens but does nothing with God’s teachings, are those that stumble. This is a life closed off to the Holy Spirit. Because their heart is not willing to receive Christ and His Words, they are deceived. And as time goes by, there soul will crave something more, but it is up to them to choose wisely. As Solomon said, every 1“idle soul shall suffer hunger.” The path of this world will make us unwilling to follow God and His Word. As time goes by and people’s lives never fully become in line with God, then His teachings will continue to fall upon deaf ears. In their foolishness, they pervert God’s ways. It is true that if 1“the soul be without knowledge, it is not good,” as Solomon taught. If we neglect our chance to know Jesus and do as He says we will have a wake-up call in judgement. There will be much fear for those that lived contrary to Him.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that more people will have an open heart to You and Your teachings. May they remove all their pride and humble themselves before You today. I know that wisdom will only come inside our hearts and minds, when we are fully open to receive You. We cannot just hear but also be doers of what You say. Lord, what You have shown me is so amazing. I wish everyone could gain the same or similar gifts of the Spirit for they delight my soul. I admit that there was a time that my heart was closed off to Your will but once I opened up to You fully, my life was changed forever. I no longer delighted in the things I could do, but what I could do for You Lord. And this desire has carried forth till this day. In all this time, Your wisdom has been on full display. You have opened my eyes to things I never knew before. This understanding amazes me in every way. For once in my life, I have direction. There is peace in my life. I am filled with Your love. Because of Your hand in my life, I am stronger. I am bold to testify of You. Thank You for changing me. Thank You for seeing my brokenness and helping me become new. I am Yours and You are mine. I love You. Amen.
