The Passion In Marriage

The passion that starts the marriage off should never be shut off. Keep it revived on a daily basis with God’s love in the mix. It may seem hard to do but God’s love can help us love our husband or wife that much greater. He even has the power to bring that affection back into the marriage. Now let us learn from Solomon and his wife, on how this love and affection should and can be showcased in all marriages. Speaking of Solomon, she said, 1“let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth.” She goes on to say, 1“draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.” Can’t you see the excitement in the air? Her love was pure and true for her spouse. There was no adultery, fornication or porn necessary, for her love was set apart for her spouse alone. Your affection for your spouse may not be like this now but I know that there was a time when it was so. So trust in God and allow Him to move within You and your spouse’s lives as well, as to bring back that passion in your marriage. What joy it will bring, when true love is shared between husband and wife, and them with God.

Now let us learn how Solomon spoke of his wife. Speaking of her, he said, 1“O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents. I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots. Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.” Surely, his love for His spouse carried him forth. And because his love rang true for her and her the same way, it became easy for them to show so much passion for one another. In this light, the love they shared was sweeter than ever. Nothing could take the place of their spouse but God. No other man or woman was more desirous to them. Their qualities could not be matched. Other people could never please them like their spouse does. Now, if this is not your desire for your spouse, but you would like it to become so, then trust in God and allow His love to flow into your life today. His love will help you remember how precious your spouse is and help you acknowledge them this way. He will influence you to tell them how beautiful they are, on a daily basis. Solomon did this, as he said, 1“behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.” This is a great example of pure love for our spouse. I pray that your love will be revived as you allow God to work in your marriage.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that my marriage and others will be strengthened. Come and showcase Your love within my marriage and all others that are struggling. We need You to move us in a new light, starting today. We know that our marriage is important but for it to be revived, Your hand needs to be involved. You can help bring that passion for our spouse, even though it is lacking now. We can only do and try so much but with Your power in our lives, we are more than capable of showcasing Your great love towards one another. Yes, Your love can take us to places we have never experienced before. We will do and say things that are out of ordinary. Like tell our spouse, on a frequent basis, how beautiful and precious they are to us. You can move us to tell them more often, how much we love them. How deep our soul longs for them. That they are our greatest love aside from You. This will revive our hearts to do more for one another. To listen to their needs and act on them. To carry out Your desires in their lives. What a great thing, this will do to rejuvenate my marriage and others. I trust in You God. You can do all things in me and my spouse and my marriage. She is my delight and no other woman will bring me love like she does. I love You Lord. Amen.
