The Lord’s Vineyard

The Lord God’s vineyard is a sad story of how His people, Israel, went astray. This vineyard was prepped in the most 1“fruitful hill”. It was protected and cared for but still brought forth wild grapes. And what was so sad is that there was nothing the Lord of the vineyard do but let it go to waste. Speaking of these people that went astray. Isaiah said, 1“the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.” He had high hopes for them but instead of following in His ways, they turned away into the things of the world. Instead gratification was better to them than God’s peace and safety. Therefore, God allowed His people to fall under hard times and the land to go desolate. God surely saved His people and led them to the promised land, however, soon after, most of them went astray. It was the prophets of old that came to bring an awareness of God and His goodness and wrath once again. However, the majority did not head the Word of the Lord. In which Isaiah said, 1“therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” Because their knowledge didn’t come from God, they suffered immensely. However, we will soon learn that their suffering did not end after death.

As the people of God did not obey His counsel, God’s wrath and judgements were upon their shoulders. There were two warnings or judgements from God placed upon them. #1 1“Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!” This is being involved with the luxuries of this world. A person here feeds the flesh with all the indulgences of this world. Therefore, what they build up is never enough. #2 1“Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands.” These are those people that disregard God’s commands and instead drink as much as they can, even if it means getting drunk. They are not sober for God is not with them. Therefore, hell is the consequence of their actions. Lastly, Isaiah said, 1“therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.” Don’t be a fool and think that our day and age is any different. If you disregard God’s commands and instead do your own thing, then God’s wrath is upon you also. Repent and come unto Jesus before it is too late.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, our mighty God, I know You are there. You are all powerful and can do all things. Nothing can stop your judgements, wrath or punishments. This is inevitable for anyone that disregards Your commands. To live our own life and disregard You and Your counsels for our life is setting us up for hell. I know that without You there is only torment and pain. Shame and guilt is the consequence of disobeying Your will. Therefore, I have learned from my mistakes and I do not wish to do my own thing anymore. When I was foolish and blatantly sinned, I felt your wrath upon me. I have felt Your torments and I do not wish to go down that road again. To anyone that is in this mess now, pierce their hearts and minds, Lord. I pray that they will be ready to change their life today. Whatever is holding them back, take it all away. Break every chain of addiction from their lives. Lead them away from the darkness and into Your light. It is so beautiful to be here in Your presence. I am safe, for Your peace surrounds me. Your love has changed my wicked heart. Thank You for Your forgiveness and mercy. You are so amazing God. I love You. Amen.

1Isaiah 5:1-14 (KJV)
1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
9 In mine ears said the Lord of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.
11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands.
13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
