Sin Hardens Our Hearts To God

When we are born again and become a new creation in Christ Jesus, we become sons and daughters of God. We are no longer just a part of an earthly household but are part of the Lord’s also. However, this blessing can be taken away if we do not endure in the faith. As Paul said, 2“but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” A person can lose their salvation if they do not hold fast in their confidence and hope in Christ till the very end of their lives. Jesus even said, 1“he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Our salvation does begin when we accept the Lord into our lives and follow Him, however, it is fulfilled when we live out our faith in Christ, till our final breath. Now to make this point even more evident that our salvation comes when we endure in our faith, Paul continued and said, 2“take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.” So we ought to remember this as we go about our lives. So as Paul said, sin hardens a person’s heart and even makes them not want to serve God any longer. Therefore, they start going back to doing things that God hates. So I encourage everyone living this way to repent and come to Jesus before it is too late. Get back to reading the Bible daily and praying often. This will get you back on track and seeking God all over again.

The thing about sin is it is detrimental to our lives and our walk with God. Because it hardens our hearts to God and leads us to do things that are wicked, His presence is no longer in our lives either to protect us. In this state of mind, people may feel empty and start seeking ways to be happy in all the wrong places. They may start watching TV shows or listening to music that is inappropriate and certainly not something God would have us do. Even sexual sin may enter our lives, beginning with simple things like lustful or sexual thoughts for another person. Then, it may build up to a point of a person looking at porn and even having sex outside of marriage. Drugs and alcohol addictions may also form while living apart from God and His Word. All this can happen to a person that once believed in Jesus for salvation, unless they confess their sins to the Lord and He changes them before things get really out of hand. I mention getting out of hand because, most people living this way end up dying like this and are now in hell suffering because of their evil choices. This is all because they chose to walk away from God. He hasn’t done this to them, but they have defiled His Name through their actions. In choosing to continue doing our own things, it doesn’t matter if we once accepted the Lord into our lives, we are now just like any other unbeliever. This is when we are no longer partakers of the Lord’s blessings and instead are partakers of Satan’s traps, of which only appear good on the outside, but are vile and wicked on the inside. Please know that in life, there are only two paths to choose. A path of sin and death, and find our way in hell or a path of righteousness, where we obtain life eternal in heaven. What path will you choose to follow till the end or your life?

Let us pray:
Lord, I pray that all people that say they know You now or have in the past will understand the importance of living in Your righteousness, reading the Bible daily and praying often. I know that these three things will help our faith stand strong, that we might fight against temptation when it strikes. I also know that when we have days or weeks go by and we are not seeking You in Your Word or in prayer, that our thoughts and actions change dramatically. Where we once wanted to live in Your holiness, sin lies at our door and begins to wreck our lives. So now Lord, I speak to those people that once knew You, but have since hardened their hearts through sin. May their be an awakening of their sins before it is too late. I know that as a follower of You, we ought to also be doers of Your will. Otherwise, we are only deceiving ourselves into thinking that we saved. As Your words have spoken, deception begins when sin takes root in our hearts and we do nothing about it. And so it festers there and leads us so far from You and Your great love. Here is where people have chosen to do things that they will certainly regret come judgement day, before Your thrown, Lord. Oh, how my heart aches for these people that are so lost and don’t even realize it. May their brokenness cause them to seek Your hand once again, that confessions will poor out of their mouths in humility to You. This I know that mercy is for those that call upon Your Name. Otherwise, they are damned to hell. May this not be the place of those that once knew You. This I pray Lord, in Your holy Name, Jesus. Amen.

1Matthew 24:4-13 (KJV)
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

2Hebrews 3 (KJV)
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
