New Heaven And New Earth

One day there will be a new heaven and a new earth, where the Lord God shall be with His people forevermore. This beautiful time is what all believers in Christ look forward to one day. However, before I can talk about such a place as this, let me summarize the previous events mentioned in Revelation 20, that will take place on the earth prior to this happening. #1. The millennium, where Jesus rules and reigns with His people for a thousand years. #2. The Gog and Magog war, where at the end of the thousand years the people that turn against God is defeated with a pillar of fire from the heavens. #3. The great white thrown judgement, where every wicked person that is not in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. After these three things happen, then the time for a new heaven and earth is set in motion. This is because there is no more corrupt thing in the earth or heaven above. Every person that is unbelieving and vial in nature is already shut up in the lake of fire for all eternity. So this is the time where the saints of God are blessed forever more. In this place that God has prepared for all His children is better than anything we have ever experienced. Imagine the most beautiful place and a joy that never ends. There is no more sorrow or death here. This is where the Lord God is able to see us through our earthly pains and wipe away all our tears from our eyes. What a wonderful time this will be with God. I stand in awe just thinking about it. And to help you understand this place even better, John describes it below…

1“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:1-8)

As John mentioned above, the bride of Christ will come down from the new heaven and upon the new earth. This place is adorned for her husband, Jesus Christ, where every child of God will also be able to use for themselves as God sees fit. Now, the bride is the New Jerusalem, of which is a structure that is greater than anything our eyes have ever seen. It’s spender it greater than we can even imagine. Imagine seeing the greatest stones of all the earth going into this place, giving it a look that only the God of the heavens could create. The glory of God will be in this place also and light it up forevermore. This same light is also the appearance of the most precious stone. Imagine seeing a light that mimics a jasper stone and crystals and you would imagine a little about what this light will be like someday. This city of the New Jerusalem has very high walls that surround it and twelve gates all around it. On each gate has a name of the twelve tribes of Israel. Around the walls of the city are twelve different foundations, which have the names of the twelve apostles engraved on them. And what I mention here can be seen also in what John saw in the vision below…

1“And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” (Revelation 21:9-14)

So after getting a glimpse of what the New Jerusalem will look like on the outside, we will now get the dimensions of the city also. This way we can better imagine this beautiful place in our minds and even experience a piece of heaven on earth, even before this time happens. So it was that an angel had a golden reed that he used it to measure the city. To begin with, we get the measurement of the city, which is the shape of a square, with four sides. And the length of the city is 12,000 furlongs, which is equivalent to 1500 miles. And the length, width and height are equal in distance. The walls were 144 cubits, which is 216 feet, or equivalent to the height of an angel. So here, we get a glimpse of how tall angels can get in size. This wall was made up of jasper, where the city was made up of pure gold, like unto clear or transparent glass. The twelve foundations on these walls were decorated with many different precious stones. Even the stones that are used in these foundations are mentioned, which are jasper, sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysotile, beryl, topaz, chrysoprasus, jacinth and amethyst. Lastly, upon the twelve gates had a different pearl. I hope you were imaging this in your mind as I described this place in detail. Now, to get an even better description, let us look to what John saw in the vision below…

1“And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.” (Revelation 21:15-21)

In the New Jerusalem there are no temples present, for the Father and the Son are the temple of it. They are what light it up without the need of a sun or moon in the sky. We have both the glory of the Father, our Mighty God and the Son, the Lord God of the heavens, bearing their light for all to see. All the nations that are saved in the last days, by the blood of the Lamb, will be able to walk in this place. Even the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor unto God as they walk through this place and give God praise. The gates will always remain open here, for there is no more night any longer. However, to know that You will be welcome in this beautiful and glorious place, you must first know if you are found in the book of life. Otherwise, you are living out your life in vain and a lie, seeking what is not good in the sight of God. Therefore, see that you that what you are doing each day is pleasing to God and repent of anything that is sinful and wicked in your life. Also, look at Your life and if you are living a lie now, then change your ways. Be truthful to people and walk in Your faith for the will of Christ. This is what the Lord requires of us and who will be blessed to be with the Father and Jesus Christ, in this this holy, holy, place, which is the bride of our Lord. May you ever live a life that is pleasing to God all the days of your life. Seek Jesus and You shall find this new life. Lastly, read what John saw in this last part of his vision…

1“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:22-27)

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people that say they love You now, will also obey Your commands and do the things that are pleasing in Your sight. May mine and other people’s testimonies of You speak louder than words, but also speak truthfully by our walk with You. Testify in us, Lord, what we ought to do, that is delightful and holy. Help us stay focused on things that are heavenly and stay apart from the wickedness of this world. I know the pains and sorrows that addiction can do to a person and I am so grateful that You have come into my life and brought me out of a life of bondage. I was surely enslaved in sexual sin, greed and covetousness, but through Your grace, I am healed. Through Your words, my life is strengthened enough to follow in Your light and to resist temptation now. Your words combined with prayer and living out what You say is true has built up the armor of faith in my life. Now I am able to do things with a clear conscience and know that what I am doing is for Your will and not my own. Surely, what makes me happy in life is not what this world offers but the love You bring to my soul daily and what I can do for others. As long as I have You near me, there is joy that never ends. This is what is most precious to my soul and what I need to be happy. It is not the things that this world that brings happiness, but Your presence, Lord. I am in awe at Your beauty. Thank You for Your forgiveness and mercy and leading me from darkness and into Your light. I can’t wait till the day I will be with You forever in the New earth and heaven. I love You Lord. Amen.
