Obey God’s Call And Follow Him

I understand that many of you call yourselves Christians, but do you also follow Jesus and do as He says? If so, then you’d be willing to give God a chance when He calls you to do different things like helping people in need, praying for somebody that is sick or lost, or witnessing His gospel message. Do you not know that the amount of lost people in this world is growing at an alarming rate, but evangelists to reach them for Christ is limited. This is why the Holy Spirit is needed in your life, in order for you to join God in the harvest. The day that you gave your life to Christ was also the day that you said that you would follow Him. So do what you said you would do in the beginning and start being used by God in His ministry. If the Holy Spirit is in your life, then you will be able to recognize it when God calls you out to do things. Otherwise, your will, will get in the way and blind you to what God really wants for your life. So the question is, are you living for God or not? If you are for Him, then He is able to usher in the Holy Spirit and guide your life, but if not, then start praying, in order to be used by Him.

If you read the Bible, then you know what God hates, and should wish to be released from these things. This could be an addiction to pornography, alcohol, drugs, or a lifestyle like sex outside of marriage. Each one of these things are spoken of in the Bible, one way or another. and will keep the Holy Spirit far from us. These sins will also keep you from being born again of the Spirit and entering God’s kingdom. As Paul said, 2“know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9,10) For this reason, you need to confess those sins to God and, if needed, have another person in the faith cast out any demons that are inside of you. You may have prayed before, but these demons could be keeping you from changing your ways. For that reason, they must be cast out in the Name of Jesus. Then, will you be set free from the bondage of these sins and be forgiven.

Everybody that believes in Jesus also wants to be saved and go to heaven, but not everybody has the Holy Spirit and are born again to enter. As Jesus said, 1“except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” (John 3:5-7) For this reason, to be delivered from your state of wickedness is key to your walk with Christ. Otherwise your flesh will keep getting in the way of doing God’s will, while not allowing the Holy Spirit to change your life. Now think about your average day that you live. Can you say that you spend time with the Lord in prayer, read the Bible, listen to good Christian songs, watch good Christian ministries on YouTube, spend your time outdoors witnessing for Christ, or helping those in need? These are all great things that each Christian should be striving to do daily, maybe not everything I mentioned each day, but filling our days with things like this. This is when the greatest joy of the Lord and His love will poor into us.

When we deny the Lord’s will for us, we are walking against His commandments and into sin. This is when we start doing the will of the flesh and God’s joy and love is not available. Therefore, the love of God is missing from people’s lives. It is true that what you consume each day in books, TV, the radio, and the outdoors, will make you become the person you are today. For that reason, we need to be weary of every step we do in this life. If what we desire is not for the benefit of God’s kingdom, then it isn’t good for us also. Truly, if you desire to be led by God, then also allow the Lord to fill your lives with things that He deems to be good, not you. Be found seeking His hand at all times and the Holy Spirit will come and set a fire in your heart. And when this happens, your whole life will change. What you thought you could not do will be possible, like being a witness for Jesus on the streets. Everything is possible with the Lord, but we need to trust in Him enough to use us. So to those that love Jesus, why not get out of your comfort zone and be a witness for Christ? The Lord is waiting to use you to go all in.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will begin to call upon Your Name in prayer and actually desire to hear You out when You respond. For surely You do respond to our needs when we call upon Your Name, especially when our hearts are open. It is these moments, that we are broken, is when You can do the most work in our lives. Humility is our key to that relationship with You, that we are missing out on now. I’ve learned, Lord, that seeking You for answers to my problems has been the best help that I’ve ever received for my life. This is because You are all powerful and want the best for my life. For that reason, You have led me out of my bondage of sin and put me on the right path. I am no more inclined to do the things of the flesh, for I know that they are not lawful in Your sight. If anything is abominable to You, I say, let it be abominable to me also. I want Your ways to be my ways and not the opposite. I’ve already experienced what the world has to offer and it is not good at all. I may have had pleasure in things for a time, but because of sin, it always came with regrets and much shame. So thank You for coming into my life and freeing me from my sins and addictions. I am so much happier now. Because You have saved my soul from hell, I have hope and meaning to my life. You died for my sins and now I have forgiveness and mercy for my soul. Your condemnation is not upon me, for You have saved me from my sins. Thank You Lord for helping me know what things I ought to do and stay away from. Truly Your Words in the Bible have become a lamp unto my feet and I cannot get enough of what You’ve said. Speak to my heart daily and lead me in the ways of righteousness. I love You Lord. Amen.
