The Gospel Message

The gospel is that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and was resurrected the third day. As Paul said, 3“moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) This is the true gospel of the Bible, and as Christians we don’t teach any other gospel but this. Something different would be blasphemy to God. What the gospel does is sum up what Jesus did for us on the cross and the reason for it. It also helps people understand that God is real and has the power over life and death. Jesus is the lamb of God and ended all sacrifice for sins through His death on the cross. Because He died, we have new life. We are cleansed by His blood when we believe and confess our sins to Him. Truly, we are raised up into new life, just as He rose the third day from the dead. And because the Lord is alive and living in every person that walks in their faith, they have the promise of eternal life. What an amazing gospel this is. Nothing else can take its place. People can trick people into believing in a different meaning of the word, but it is only to deter them from the cross.

Paul taught, 2“for Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:17,18) This teaching is so true to those in the faith and following the true gospel of the Bible. Truly, the preaching of the cross is what leads a person to repentance and to follow Jesus for salvation. We love God enough, as to never forget the price that Jesus paid for us. Now, in saying this, these verses are also a warning to those people that do not stand upon the cross. These people are foolish and therefore teach another gospel and remove the teaching and the cross itself from their church buildings. To these people Paul said, 1“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-8) It is my prayer that any person that is a part of a false religion, of which has removed the importance of the cross, will run from it. There is only power through God Almighty through the cross, to those that are saved. We cannot replace the cross with anything else or what Jesus did for us is of no effect.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that the preaching of the cross will become meaningful in people’s lives. May people understand that because of what You did for us, Jesus, that we have forgiveness of sins. Thank You God. In our confessions, Your mercy is extended upon us. What a great gift! You suffered for our sins, so that we don’t have to in death. Wow, Praise God. Our life has purpose because of the pains You put upon Yourself for us. It is because of Your great love, that we can walk a new and not have to be held back because of our past. You have wiped the slate clean for everyone that believes in and follows You. All I can say is thank You Lord. And because of the resurrection, we have this newness of life. This hope leads us to walk differently and talk differently. We are no longer doing our own things, but are led by the Holy Spirit, in the ways that are righteous. It is because of Your presence, Lord, that are faith is alive and well. We aren’t simply believers, but people that love You and honor You though our daily walk. To read the Bible daily, pray often and to do as You command is what we desire most. Your ways have become our ways and we cannot get enough of You. We want more and more of Your joy in our lives and less of the world. We want to have Your love with us always and proclaim it to others also. And because You have saved us from a life of sin and raised up into new life, we know that anyone can be saved. Your mercy and compassion see’s through our wickedness and gives us potential for today and tomorrow. I love You Lord. Your gospel message is true. To learn from and teach about the cross is the power of God. It is my prayer that people will come to know this and leave any false gospel behind. Your salvation is worth leaving any false sense of security in this life behind. Thank You for leading me out of darkness and into Your light. It was worth it. Amen.

1Galatians 1:1-10 (KJV)
1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

21 Corinthians 1:17-31 (KJV)
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

31 Corinthians 15:1-8 (KJV)
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
