Are God’s Words Important To You?

I often wonder why the Bible is being neglected and not read much anymore. People may pray, but reading the Bible is a different story. For the majority of these people at home, they either spend their time watching TV, playing video games, working on their computer, or using their phone or tablet. Others that like to read will often fill their minds with many different types of books, including audio-books, for they like to learn. However, in all of this, the Bible is snuffed out. Pretty much God’s Word doesn’t have a place in these people’s lives, unless they are at church. Then, will they either open up their Bible and follow along, or read it on their phone or tablet. Now, what happens in church isn’t so bad, after all, at least some of the people are paying attention and maybe even writing notes. So the question is, why is there a desire to read the Bible one day out of the week, but not the other days? Is it because there is less time during the week to engage with God? The answer is No. Although people may work an eight hour work day, there are still roughly five hours before the person goes to sleep. So the question is, what are you doing in these five hours. How about Saturday or Sunday when there is no work for most people? Is God important then? Wow! I can’t believe that these people even think they are Christians, when the Bible has become unimportant to them. This is so sad, since they are only deceiving themselves as being saved, when they have really neglected God in all of this. How can they even know how to obey God, if they are not reading His Words. Think about this! No longer pray alone, but know God and His Words as well.

If you truly desire to be saved, then learn to follow Jesus and do as He says. You do this by making God and His Words a priority in Your life. So before anything happens, we should make sure that God is spoken for. And even after reading, we should look at what we are then going to do, to see if it is for God or will remove the Spirit that was felt when reading the Bible. Now listen to what Jesus said, 2“if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:7) As He said, if you are seeking Him often, then it also equals having His Words inside of you. And how can that be if you are not reading the Bible daily? Now, for those that have been neglecting reading the Bible, did you not know that 3“the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) You will never grow in the Lord and truly become God’s son or daughter, if you are not allowing His words to penetrate your soul. Truly, as you stop reading the Bible, the less likely you will repent of your sins. But the opposite can be found for those that do read daily. They are convicted of their sins and come to God about it. It is my prayer that you will one day resonate with this verse, 1“thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105) Once you do, then you will become a true follower of Jesus and surely be saved. This is because you have allowed the Bible to become alive in Your life. Even prayer will make more sense now, as you trust in God.

Let us pray:
Lord, my heart aches just thinking of the lost souls in this world. Truly, the majority of people have not made You a priority in their lives and are therefore, on a path to destruction. This terrifies me to think that even people that call themselves Christians are among them. They may have a zeal to know you one day at church, but every other day is a different story. And so is their faith. Lord, people do not know the danger they are in. They do not realize that while they are making time for themselves, they are only neglecting their chance at salvation. Sure, they may live a comfortable life, but when they die, everything will be different. I do not wish people that say they have faith in You to come before Your throne and be found guilty. Surely, a life apart from You would be terrifying. I would never want to spend my eternity without You Lord, and I wish that this was the desire of every person that says they are in the faith now. Give them a desire to know You, before it is too late. Our time is ticking away, every day that we live, and what will become of us when we die? Will we have come unto You before our last breath or denied that time we ought to have had in Your Words, the Bible, and prayer. I pray that people will make the choice today to believe in and follow You. And in following You, may they understand that this means knowing what You have said in Your words, the Bible, and obeying them. Your words are a lamp unto our feet and will become this way for anyone that desires to truly know You. I love You Lord. Your words are my delight and I love to honor You, through knowing them and obeying them. I trust in You, God. Amen.

2John 15:1-15 (KJV)
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

3Hebrews 4 (KJV)
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
