Making Time For God

What do you spend your time doing, when you are not working? Is your time spent for God or for your own fleshly desires? I ask this question, in order to get you thinking about your priorities in life and to see if they are good or not. And the reason why I am addressing this topic on time with God, is that the many people that go to church are one way while they are there, but an entirely different person outside of it. So at one moment they could be at church, worshipping God in song and even listening to the message by the pastor, however, there is no true change of heart happening for God. It is like they are just used to being their each week and therefore they go because it is good for them. However, that same good service is not helping them, because their heart is far from God. If they were for Him, then that same person would leave church, while wanting to apply the teachings in their lives. Therefore, they would find ways to better serve the Lord and to know Him better through reading the Bible daily and praying often. Instead, these people fill their minds up with TV, sports, movies, video games, phone and tablet apps, reading and listening to other books, and listening to non-Christian music. They may also make excuses to find time for God because of chores inside their house. No wonder why they say that they have no time for God. It is because other things have their attention that God is not important. This is a big problem since these same people do not know Jesus and if this is the case, they are also not saved. This is because Jesus needs to know them personally, in order to go to heaven. We can’t just live our own sinful lives, while doing whatever we want, and still think that we are OK with God.

You know what’s interesting? These people that don’t make time for God are also very wicked. Not only do they have idols in their lives, because of the things I’ve mentioned, but they willfully sin as well. Things like fornication (sex outside of marriage), pornography (looking at naked men or women through pictures or videos), adultery (lusting upon another person or having sex with someone married), are into drugs or have a drinking problem. Do they not know that this type of sinful lifestyle will keep them out of heaven? Paul taught this, while saying, 2“know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9,10) Jesus also said, 1“no man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24) Truly, you cannot be for God one day a week, but live like a devil every other day. Therefore, repent of your sins. Come to Jesus for forgiveness. Allow Him to cast out the things from your life that He hates. May He help you straighten up your life, that you may find time for Him. So if you have repented, then what Paul said will ring true in your life. He said, 2“and such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11) The Lord can change your life, but you must let Him in first. Will you give your lives to Christ today, if you haven’t already? Please do, the Lord is waiting.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will start making time for You. May they not only desire to go to church, but also be a light for You, Jesus, outside of it. You have the power to lead any person in the ways of righteousness, but people need to desire to be used by You first. So it is my prayer that You come into these people’s lives, that say they believe in You, and cast out anything that is drawing them away from You. And if those things are needed still, help them make better use of their possessions, that they may please You and not the flesh. It is true that TV can be a blessing, but often times it is more of a distraction than anything else. I’ve seen this, Lord, each time I’ve turned on a TV Show, movie or video game. What I’ve learned is that I’ve lost a ton of time, and then find struggle to read Your Words in the Bible and pray. Not to mention that it is hard to find the desire to seek You afterwards. Lord, Satan has a way to make things seem so good on the outside, but truly it is only leading us further from You. These things and other things like pornography almost destroyed my life, until I finally broke down and called upon Your Name. Lord, I was broken, but knew that only You could help me. I was never happy long term, but more sorrowful because of my sins afterwards. For this reason, calling upon Your Name in prayer was the best thing I could ever do. I had no way to make a change in my life, but You knew a way the entire time. Thank You for making this a reality. I love You now more than anything. It isn’t hard to find time for You now, for You mean the most in my life. I love You Lord. You are my delight and the rock upon which I stand. Amen.
