God Hates A Lying Tongue

Lying is not something God takes lightly. For every person that lies against their neighbor is also lying against God. There is no love shown to such people, but only hate. You may not think that you are harming a person like this, however, when another person’s name is slandered because of lies, God’s wrath is upon such people that cause this. How can people think that God is OK with you, if you are causing harm upon another person because of what you say. In my lifetime, I have seen people have financial issues and lose their house because of a job loss, and have marriage issues because of lies that were said about them. And because truth doesn’t come out till later on down the road, this only causes more pain and sorrow to fill the person’s life and their family’s lives that are affected. Now, if you want to know how God really feels about lying, It is said that 1“these six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” (Proverbs 6:16-19) Did you notice that lying is mentioned twice on this list? If not, then you may recall that, a lying tongue and a false witness was mentioned. And if God hates such things, then this also means that such people will not go to heaven when they die, lest they repent and come to Jesus beforehand. This is no joke but serious stuff! It is like playing with fire every time you lie to someone.

It is when we are truthful to people, is when trust is also built. Now the opposite is when people lie and even jokingly lie and then say sorry sarcastically. There is a big difference here and it is better to just say the truth and don’t lie at all. Now, in speaking of telling the truth, God’s Word also says, 2“he that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:17-19) We must realize how God feels about lying, that way we aren’t like the wicked and live like them. It is much better to live for the Lord, then to one day be grouped with the wicked, because of our lies. As the Bible says, 2“there shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief. Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.” (Proverbs 12:21-23) Please realize that when a person is lying and concealing the truth, there is only foolishness in their hearts. They are not for God, but for Satan. He has them and not God for salvation. Therefore, if you desire to be saved and go to heaven one day, when you die, then get right with God, starting today. Then, can all your wrongs be made right between you and God and the people you offended. Allow Him to make you a person that speaks truth. Then, will His love be on full display. Please think about!

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for restitution in the lives of people that have been lied to and to those people, whom their names have been slandered wrongfully. Truly, there crimes and punishments were in vain and unnecessary, but the person who lied to them didn’t care for their well-being. This is so sad, Lord, and I pray that people that were affected by such people will find joy once again in Your presence, their family, their friends, and church member’s lives. May there be people in the faith that will come to their side and help them in whatsoever they can. We all know people who are suffering, and I pray Lord, that people will be moved to do something nice for them. Just because there is hardship in their life now, I know there can still be peace and a restoration in their lives, because of Your great love for us all. Sometimes we have to go through trials in life, and in the end, it only helps us deepen our walk with You, Jesus. I know that we don’t wish to see family members go out and make bad decisions that then affect our own family, but I know this happens more than we wish for, God, because people have free agency. Even though we hope people would choose to follow You and do what is right, we cannot force their hands. All I can do, Lord, is lead them to You and pray that they will repent before it is too late. Now, Lord, I am also sorry for telling my wife little lies over this last week. I know this is uncalled for, even if I say I am kidding afterwards. So I pray that You will also change my heart, that I might better serve You and do Your will. I love You, Lord. Amen.
