Allow God To Remove Idols In Your Lives

When a person loves the Lord with all their heart, mind and strength, their whole life changes. No longer are they wanting to do their own things and fulfill their own lustful deeds, but to do as God directs in their lives. You see, we were once like everyone else in the world until God rescued us from all our sins, addictions, bad habits, and idols in our lives. Now, we think and act differently than other people, and this makes us happier than ever before. It is not to be prideful or boastful in any way, it is only because the Lord has changed us and we no longer want to do the same things we once did, especially if God was never for it. So things like watching a ton of TV/movies, playing a bunch of video games, spending our time surfing the web or playing apps on our phones or tablets, are no longer a part of our lives. How can this be? You might ask. It is simple, my friends. For our time now is precious and what we can do for God is most important to us now. We would never want to waste that time on things that don’t matter in life, but what we can do for the building up of God’s kingdom. So instead, we find time reading the Bible daily, praying often, and just seeking the Lord, that His will, will be done in our lives and others as well. This then leads us to have some amazing encounters with not only God, but with people, while sharing our faith, praying with them, and doing kind deeds to those less fortunate. Surely, doing this makes others feel loved, while our love also increases.

Earlier I mentioned the things we could be doing that are only time wasters, of which take our precious time away from God. I mention this because people are continually ignoring the Lord day in and day out and may not even realize it. What is sad is that so many people in the church community have idols in their lives now and may not know either. So what is an idol you might ask? It is anything we give our time and effort towards that doesn’t please God. You may think that idolatry only pertains to worshipping false gods, but really these other things have become an idol to you as well. This is what is frightening since many people don’t know that they are giving worship to their TV, video game console, their phone, tablet, computer, or even music artists or sports teams. How many times do you hear people speak so highly of an app they are using, a TV show they are watching, a game they are playing, their favorite music artist or sports team? People get so excited when talking about such things, where the Lord is not spoken of at all. Now, do you understand what is happing here? Their time and effort in doing such things have made them an idol to them. And what does the Bible say about this? Well, Paul said, 1“wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.” (1 Corinthians 10:14) You will never be fully born again unless things of God become more important to you than other things. Please think about and how much time you are giving to God now and what you plan to do about it.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will decide today to give themselves to You fully. May they no longer put one foot in Your kingdom and the other in the world. I know that to live our lives for You, we must be more than talk, but also walk the walk. And help us all to prioritize our time better each day, that we may find ample amount of time to read the Bible, pray, and to serve You with our whole hearts. The devices now-a-days have taken many people away from You, and I pray that they may return to You once again. Sure, there are good things that come with TV, our phones and computers, but there are also many evil things that go with them as well. One thing that I know of, Lord, is that they are addicting. Once a good show comes on, then we want to watch the entire season. And once our favorite sports team starts playing, we don’t want to miss seeing any of their games. Even apps on our phones have become a hit for people, where they can’t stop playing and talking about them. And when was the last time that they opened the Bible and acted this way, God? What I see here are people that are excited for things that the world gives them, instead of being excited for what You can lead them to do. This is really disturbing and I pray that there will be a breakthrough in people’s lives, before their time is up. Otherwise, they will have gotten the joy they wanted in those things and then be disappointed when they face You in judgment. Lord, I know that only the things that You offer me has true joy in it. I also know that salvation can only come from You, Jesus. Therefore, I give You my whole heart each day, for other things deprive me from Your presence. I love You God. Amen.

11 Corinthians 10 (KJV)
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.
27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28 But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:
29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
