What Will You Give Up To Follow Jesus?

Jesus is what people need in their lives. Only He can help them get over things without having to worry about it getting worse. Those that trust in the Lord, He will be their Savior and their King. No other person in the world is better equipped to help us than Jesus. People may not have liked Him while He was on the earth two thousand years ago, but everyone must bow down to Him now, no matter if they loved Him or not in this life. As Paul said, 1“for it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:11,12) You see, Jesus is our Savior and can help us get through any situation we are in. He is also our Judge. People may not like Him because of what He wants out of us, but they must confess Him as their Lord and walk in His ways, or else there will not be good news for them come judgment day. You see, He is the only person that knows everything that is going on in our lives. Therefore, He is the only person that can transform us into the person we should be in this life, not the person that others think we ought to be. Yes, the Lord does cause us to take a detour from things that are not good for us, and then leads us on His path of righteousness. However, not everyone is willing to take this path. There is too much for people to give up, so they continue doing their own things, which is really a life of sin. Which then leads them down the slippery slope of destruction and hell when they die. This is a rude awakening for anybody who didn’t confess Him as Lord in this life while walking out their faith in Him.

Though repentance is always a possibility for every person before him or her dies, most people will put this off until it is too late. You see, people do not know the day or time they will pass on from this life to the next, and most people don’t prepare for it in the right way, through Christ, either. That is why it is important to turn from our sins and unto Jesus Christ for safety and security and our lives. We need to be safe in this life and the next. The thing is, only He can secure our salvation and nobody else. So, what do people need to give up, in order to be in line with God? Well, anything that goes against His will and commands that He and His apostles have left us in the New Testament. Those being our idols, any profanity in our speaking, anger issues, what we covet, things we steal, our lying, drinking to get drunk, having sex outside of marriage, looking at porn or looking at a man or woman to lust, having an affair, and any homosexual desires. What I’ve mentioned are some key teachings in the New Testament that should rock the boats that people are on, lest they find themselves cast into the lake of fire when they die. If we are living in willful sin, then we should be fearful for our lives, while coming to God Almighty in our broken state. Then, can He take that fear and turn it into gladness. There may be joy in the moment, while we are living in the pleasures of our flesh, but there is only death and destruction that comes from them in the long run. Therefore, run to Jesus. He will take you as you are and transform you into the person you ought to be in His kingdom. This is called believing in and following Him, which leads to salvation in heaven.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Let us pray:
Lord, I pray that people will make a decision to follow You. So many people claim to know You, but really only a few that follow You. These few that know, know what being born again is really like, but the rest have never experienced it. For if they did, they would not be the person they are today. People would be running to You and not turning back to their old lifestyle, which we see people doing now. God, it is hard to see people that I know and love go back to their former lusts while grieving the Holy Spirit. It is even sadder to know that they are now comfortable in their own way of life, which is very sinful, for they now believe that in their faith alone are they saved. This is very disheartening that there are pastors that teach this false doctrine of cheap grace. Lord, to many wolves are taking Your sheep astray, and I wish I could be a voice to all these people, that they may come to You know personally. It is my prayer that people will understand the need to pick up their cross and follow You. It is one thing to say they believe in You, but another to do as You have and Your disciples have taught us in scripture. We either love You or we don’t. We are either Your friend as we obey Your commands, or we are not. And if we are not on Your side, then we are only living for Satan. This is what I am afraid of, Lord. So convict these people that are living in their sins of the wicked state they are in. Help them know that a lifestyle that goes against Your standards is only choosing death and destruction. It is my prayer that people will start praying more and reading the Bible daily, that they may help them know what sin is and then confess those sins to You openly in prayer. Surely, You are ready to forgive us, as sinners, but we must desire to have Your blood cover us first. I believe in You. You the Lord of my Lord. I love You. Amen.

27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
