Making A Mockery Of God In Church

When we desire to do God’s will, this is a great thing that is stirring in our hearts. We may even go so far as to start singing and praising God in worship, which is amazing. However, we got to be careful to not desecrate the things of God, lest his punishments will be upon us also. This is especially true for Pastors, Elders, and Leaders in churches. We are to do God’s will and not our own. Christ’s church should be a place of worship to our Almighty God and not anything that has the world mixed in with it. My friends, a church may appear good on the outside, but if they are doing things that make you feel weird and look the other way, then it may just be God telling you to run for cover. As an example, I’ve been going to Calvary Chapel Boise for many years now, but lately, they have been doing things that have made me very upset inside. On Super Bowl Sunday, the worship team and even a pastor dressed up in their NFL jerseys and hats. It was very uncomfortable to watch. Then, the guy that does announcements has started to sing different acapella songs that are worldly, like Nsync, at the end of every announcement. This also has rubbed me wrong. And the icing on the cake has been the main pastor, mentioning James Bond’s movies, and his weapons, during the message. This went on for over 5 minutes, which was ridiculous. So, my friends, God is not happy with this fiasco, as am I. This is a great example of people trying to blend the world in with the church and think it is ok. However, this is not ok at all with God and for us in the faith. God’s wrath is upon such wicked people who do this.

What I just mentioned here is an example of playing with the things of God and making a mockery of it. That is why me and my family will be leaving Calvary Boise and checking out another church that is truly for God. Now, to compare this to the Bible, let us turn to 1 Chronicles 13. In this chapter, everything seemed like the people were doing good, while worshiping the Lord, as they were carrying the ark of God. It is written that 1“David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.” (1 Chronicles 13:8) Does this sound familiar with worship in church? It should, since our time there is joyful since we are worshiping the Lord, our King. However, suddenly all this worship ended when oxen on the ark were falling off of it. It reads, that 1“when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.” (1 Chronicles 13:9,10) Nobody was ever supposed to touch the ark, even if it fell, so Uzza went against God’s will and died. It may have seemed right, but was wrong in God’s eyes. The same goes with church. God is not happy when people do things in church that go against his will. To appeal to people, it is not ok to bring the things of this world into the church. And anyone doing this will have to give an account to God when the did, lest they repent, for they are only wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Church Leaders, Pastors and Elders will repent if they are currently making a mockery of You in their church building. What they need to realize is that although they may own their church and such, it does not give them the right to bring in worldly things into their church and still say they are for You. These people need to realize that church is not about appealing to young people who are of the world. Therefore, I pray that if there is anything happening like worship leaders and pastors wearing NFL Jerseys or hats, singing worldly songs, or adding things added to their message that mention worldly movies and actors, that they will see the great sin in all of this and repent. My heart is saddened to have to leave a church that once served You, but has now fallen into doing the things I just mentioned above. For the longest time, Lord, did I feel the Holy Spirit in this church, but it has all been sucked out and replaced with the world. So I pray that You will speak to these church leaders and others at different churches. May their appeal be to bring people of all ages to church to find Jesus in their lives, and not to teach or sing anything that is worldly. Oh, how Satan wants to make churches appear like they are for You, but really they are far from You. Men and women of God can see through the masquerade that is happening in churches today, for the Holy Spirit is in us. Thank You for filling us God and leading us to good churches, where people are truly for You in how they act, and not against You. I love You, Lord. Continue to lead me and my family in Your ways. Amen.
