Every Idol And Image Needs To Be Destroyed

One thing that all true believers have in common is that idolatry is a sin, of which God hates. Every person that practices idolatry is not a true believer of Jesus, for they do not follow the one true God, but their own gods that they have created or bow down to. Since the beginning, God commanded, 1“thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” (Exodus 20:3-6) So we keep God’s commandments when we believe in and bow down to Him alone in worship, and not anything else. This is not happening when we do this in front of a statue or picture. So we cast aside all idols in our lives. Every statue and image of Mary and the saints need to be destroyed. Every statue of Buddha or Hindu gods need to be destroyed. We no longer bow down to images or statues of any kind, for it defiles ourselves. Even people and things that we may create as idols, we give it all up for God. If our phone is taking our time away from God, we limit our time on it during the day. If TV, Sports, and Video Games are taking our time away from God, then we are bowing down to them also, and we ought to repent. My friends, in order to do God’s will, we need to remove all the distractions from our lives, of whom we sometimes make gods out of unknowingly. This may also mean going to a new church that honors God.

In the Bible, we have great examples of people in the faith who lived up to and kept God’s commandments and therefore, did not allow idolatry to be a part of their lives. King Asa was this type of person. After his father died, it is recorded that 2“Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God: For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.” (2 Chronicles 14:2-5) So again we see a man who’s faith was for God and who would do anything in order to keep His commandments. He even went so far as to not allow idol worship or the bowing down to any false gods to be stopped. So as he found them these statues and images, he destroyed them, by breaking them in pieces. He even went so far as to remove these images out of the different towns, which surrounded the kingdom. Every altar for these strange gods was also removed and God was then worshipped instead. What great faith is this? If people would only be so courageous for God in our time. Instead, people are so scared, for people may get upset, or police may be called if you were to destroy idols in your town. My friends, continue in prayer, for God may want you to do just as Asa did and remove and even destroy different idols of false gods. And moreover, we pray often so that He will show us what we need to remove in our own lives, that is keeping us from obeying His commandments. Seeking God and doing His will is more important than anything else in this life.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will not let anything come before You. If we say that we are a believer of You, Jesus, them let us know what is coming against You. We do not wish to unknowingly walk in disobedience when we only wished to be saved in Your kingdom. So, God, if there are any idols in our lives now, please show them to us, that we may remove them together. Help us no longer keep attachments to such images or statues, but give us over to destroying them completely. These things are only vices of the enemy and should not be in our midst any longer. You are our God and whom we wish to serve from here on out. And if people are praying this prayer with me, and they have in their midst idols, Mary, the Saints, Buddha, Hindhu gods, or any other strange gods in their household, convict them of these sins. Help them know that reselling them is also wrong, for they should only be destroyed, lest another person gets caught up in such wretched and vial things. I know that Catholics, like Buddhists and those in the Hindu religion, are in danger of hellfire, because of all their idols in their midst. Therefore, give them over to a humble and repentant heart today. Help them know that these things will only cause them to further themselves from You, and not draw them closer. People will need to look into their hearts and determine who they want to serve and even make a change in where they go to church, but this is necessary. Just like You led me out of Mormonism, people in every false religion need to repent and come out of their church for Your sake. Even our phone, TV, Sports, and video games are acting as idols, and need to be limited or removed. Thank You for speaking this truth to my heart, oh Lord. I give You everything this day and forever. I love You. Amen.

2 Chronicles 14
22 Chronicles 14 (KJV)
1 So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:
3 For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
4 And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest.
7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
8 And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
9 And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.
10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11 And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.
12 So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13 And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the Lord, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.
14 And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the Lord came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
15 They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.
