God Is Compassionate To Send His Messengers

What we learn in the last chapter of 2 Chronicles is that God is compassionate for a time unto His people, however, if they continue to do evil and not repent, then He will allow the enemy to come upon them. While being such a great God, He also sends his messengers, naming evangelists, preachers, teachers, pastors, and prophets, in order to warn them of the wrath to come, lest they wake up to their sins and come back to God. However, people do not listen to the message, He doesn’t only allow the enemy to carry people away, but also burn down their churches. This is very sad, as it happens like this a lot in our day as well. Now, let’s now hear what is said concerning this matter in this chapter. It reads, ¹“moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the Lord which he had hallowed in Jerusalem. And the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy.” (2 Chronicles 36:14-16) Does this sound familiar to the time we are living in? It does to me. I, myself, have been called by God to preach the gospel, and not only do the wicked mock me but also so-called Christians. God sends people like me and others to preach the good news of the gospel message of the cross and resurrection, but only His elect will listen. Everyone else will feel the wrath of God in person, come judgment day.

So what happened to the people of Israel and their kings, because they went against God? Well, some were carried away into Egypt and others into Babylon. Even the house of God that was built in the time of Solomon was ransacked of all its treasures and then burnt to the ground, which is very sad. It is written, ¹“and all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon. And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia. (2 Chronicles 36:18-20) My friends, if people are not willing to do God’s will any longer, than He allows the enemy to destroy that which is holy to God. He is compassionate enough to warn us of the wrath to come through His messengers, but while in our sins, people must be humble enough to accept God’s message. For every person that comes in the name of the Lord could very well have been in that place in time for one person to hear God’s message and be saved, even you. And if that person responded to God that day, then praise God. Many people simply brush off what they heard and go on with their normal daily life, but for those that were moved by the Holy Spirit and responded to it, by confessing their sins to God, salvation has begun. All God is asking for is that people willingly submit their lives to Him, and then He will set them on the path which leads to eternal life.

Let us pray:
Oh God, thank You for sending me into the world, in order to preach the good news of the gospel. I know that there will be obstacles along the way, but I am ready to talk to anyone that has an ear to hear. Lord, I’ve encountered many people that only want to mock me in these efforts, but I know that You have called me to be a light unto the world, so I do this for You. It is my desire to see many more souls be saved, that they may not have to encounter Your wrath to come on judgment day. It is my desire to see more people wake up to their sins and then draw near unto You in their confessions. It is for those that are humble that You are able to use for Your kingdom. It is Your love that has humbled myself down to becoming a bondservant for You on this earth. Of which I am happier than I have ever been. Surely, the wicked people of this world do not understand what they are missing out on. Can’t they see that we have peace that doesn’t end? That it is because of Your presence that we are happy? Your ways are good and faithful and all those that draw near unto You will become strong in the faith. No longer will they let their guard down and be just like anyone else in this world because of sin and death, but live out their whole lives for You. So God, call every person, even this very hour, that say they are Christian, and wake them up to their sins this day. If they desire to learn and grow in the faith, while in Church, and worship You there, may they also learn to do this outside of those doors? It is our everyday walk that determines if we truly love You or not. Not what we do one day out of the week. As for me, my whole life is dedicated to serving You. I love You more than life itself. These things I pray and give You glory, this day and forever. Amen.

1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s stead in Jerusalem.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
3 And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord his God.
6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.

11 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the Lord.
13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the Lord God of Israel.

17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
21 To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The Lord his God be with him, and let him go up.
