A True Christian In God’s Eyes

Today we will look at what a true Christian is like in God’s eyes, not what we think. And to put it plainly, most believers are not living up to God’s standards. You will notice what God desires might even seem foreign to what you have been taught. So to test that you are in the faith or not, please read the verses below…

1“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians 3:12-17)

So let’s exam these different characteristics of the elect of God in detail. We see a person who is quick to forgive, kind, humble, charitable, and loving. They bring peace into every room they enter and are not interested in arguing or fighting. Instead, there thoughts and intentions are for God and doing good into them as He would. They are very thankful for everything the Lord does for them and express this often in prayer. Even the words of the Bible are close to their hearts, for they are in it daily. God gives them wisdom as they study His Word and in prayer for themselves and others. They are God’s witnesses and teach others about Jesus and His will for mankind. Singing to the Lord God brings them great joy.

Does what I just described speak to the person you are or anyone you know? If not, then you have a choice to make. Do you love Jesus enough to also do His will? If so, then the Lord will happily come into Your life. Then, can He bring about in Your life a true example of Jesus and not your own. Doing this does mean a life change where God’s characteristics become who you are. There can be no willful sins in your life. All these sinful acts must be given up and prayed for forgiveness over, in order for God to transform you. It is in your brokenness that God will raise you up. Now, I have said so much already, but what it boils down to is if you want to enter heaven. If so, then allowing God to form you into His beloved son and daughter will come naturally.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will all remember our calling as Your followers. That people in all the world who trust you will know that we are different than the world. You have raised us up from our slumber and we are now alive in You, God. Because You have taken us out of a life of sin, we are able to serve You with all our hearts. There is nothing left that is coming before You, for the Holy Spirit is in us now. I am so grateful to be saved and to be placed on Your righteous path that leads to heaven. However, God, I fear that too many people that say they believe in You are really hypocrites, where their two feet are in the world and not for You. Lord, these people still need a wake-up call and I pray that it happens in life and not in death. I wish to see more people be saved and obtain eternal life. I just can’t push these people to make the right choice in life, but only they can. So Lord, I just pray that more people that are true to the faith will be an example to them. That they will see You in us and also desire to follow You completely. I trust in You, Lord. I love You. Amen.
