Job Cried Out And Felt No Relief

In Job 30, Job mentions how terrible his life is now and that there is nobody to help him, but instead people have become very cruel and mean to him instead. This is very sad to see since he was once a very respected man upon all the land of Uz until calamity hit him and his family. We will hear his groanings as we read his account, but as you do, think of how you feel when things are hard and nobody is there to call or visit you. This is terrible and doesn’t help one bit. As for Job, he said, 1“they abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face. Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me. Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction. They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.” (Job 30:10-13) 1“Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud. And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me. My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest. By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.” (Job 30:15-18) And so it seems like everybody in his community began to abhor him to a point of doing cruel things to him. Instead of helping him, they mocked him. Wow. This is not what a true Christian would do. And so I ask you if you have helped people in need like this or have even searched them out to see who you can help? If not, then why?

Job continued and said, 1“He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes. I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not. Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me. Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance. For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living. Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction. Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor? When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.” (Job 30:19-26) 1“My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat. My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.” (Job 30:30,31) And so we see Job mention that in his pain and anguish he tried to call upon God several times and he got no answer. Therefore, he saw God as being cruel to him and not caring for his needs. Even in his cries does he not hear him, Job believes in his heart. He mentioned how he did so much for people who were in trouble, by even weeping with them. Even the poor were cared for and now he is suffering after doing all this, which doesn’t make sense to him. He is now in darkness and needs God to pull him out of it. Now, as we will learn later on in Job, God did hear his cries, but it came in God’s time and not Job’s. Therefore, if we wait upon the Lord, God will come through in His own due time.

Let us pray:
Lord God, I pray for people who I know are suffering and other people in my community who are suffering as well. I hate it when things are rough for me and can only sense how it is making others feel at this time. Surely, when times are hard, I wish people would cry out to You for help, for I know that You are a gracious God and desire to do all things for our good. But sometimes our afflictions are for our benefit, even though it may not seem this way at the moment. For later in life after we are healed by Your mighty power can we tell others about this miraculous event and stir up people to follow You, Jesus, also. Lord, it is my desire to help people know that You are listening to our prayers, but that Your answers come in Your own due time and not our own. We cannot speed up our own recovery based on our amount of prayers, unless it is Your will at that very moment that we pray. And Lord, I wish that more people would call upon people in the church to pray and to help them in these dark times. People need to be made aware of our needs. Then, can good Christian people come to their homes and pray over them. Even a healing can take place if It is Your will. I know this to be true, for Your mighty power is still working on this earth. I have seen Your healings first hand and I know that the people who have been healed were meant to be in those in those moments. What we need now are more people of faith that will also pray for others. We need Christians to rise up and no longer be afraid of speaking healing by Your mighty Name Jesus to those who are sick and afflicted. And Lord, I pray that more people will rise up and desire to look to help and pray for others who are afflicted. That they will get out of their houses and do something great for Your kingdom. Thank You Jesus for everything. I love You. Amen.
