Have you ever been persecuted by even a brother or sister in the faith? I know I have. Even this week a certain person kept coming at me via Facebook chat saying I knew nothing about the Bible and how I was a false teacher. I told him that we are to love others and not tear them down, but he kept coming at me until I had to block him. People have also come to me in person and called me out, but I know that I will be persecuted for Christ’s sake. It is amazing how people can judge me without even knowing me and my relationship with Jesus. And along with me, Job also was called out by his friends and a man named Elihu. It is written, 1“for Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression. What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.” (Job 34:5-10) Does this sound like the person I just mentioned? It does to me. What we have to know is that not every person is going to like the way you believe in God. This is especially true if you also feel that you in God’s good standing and not under His judgement. But don’t worry, for God is with you.
As for Elihu, this man kept attacking Job without even trying to know his circumstances. He may have been religious but didn’t know how to treat his fellow brother in the faith. What we know in these next verses is that he hates sin and every worker of iniquity. It reads, 1“there is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God. He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.” (Job 34:22-25) What he said here could very well be true about the wicked and God’s judgements upon them. However, what is not true is him pointing the finger at Job, saying he is among the wicked. Lastly, he said, 1“Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men. For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.” (Job 34:35-37) Just like my friend said to me, how I write with no understanding from God and the Bible, Elihu said this to job also. I wish that Elihu would have tried to know Job and also help him, in his afflictions. However, because of his pride, he could not. The same thing happens with people who attack people in the faith. These people need to repent.
Oh Lord, I pray that people in the faith will learn to watch their mouths and how they come at people via chat/texting also. Surely, to put down another person is evil and does not come from You, but the devil. I wish that people would learn their lesson when they leave from conversations and the other person is now feeling crummy and even depressed. I just can’t believe it, Lord, that people can call themselves Christians when they are hostile towards other believers. This makes me sad that we have these ravening wolves in the church. I say this because I can’t see them as Christians or Your saints if they cannot treat others with kindness and respect. Surely, I know that I was once like them and was very disrespectful to people and I am sorry about my past. Please forgive me for my pride and short cummings. As for now, I do not wish to hurt anyone, no matter their faith. If there is something that needs to be addressed, I will do it with love and respect. May Your will be done in my life and not my own from now on. I know how destructive I can be around others if I think I know it all, so please keep me on the low down. Help me stay focused on You and not be elevated in pride. I am happy to be brought low and humbled in Your sight. It brings me great joy to know that Your will is now being done and not my own. Lord, I admit that I do not know everything concerning the Bible and never will. All I know is that the Bible is true and I gain more understanding from daily it as I read. Your insight and knowledge have moved me to love You more and my neighbor more. Thank You for reaching me and for bringing me into Your light. I love You, Lord. I give You praise and honor, this day and forever. Amen.
