A Wicked Generation And Their Punishment

Isaiah saw in visions of our day. Even a time when people would despise God’s teachings and even the Bible. And when Jesus returns, the wicked will find no more pleasure, but be destroyed. This wicked generation is full of people who hate the words of the Lord. I see this so often when I am on the streets preaching the good news of the gospel. And what Isaiah spoke of in Isaiah, chapter 30, is reminiscent of the time we are living in. It reads, “now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.” (Isaiah 30:8-13) People who hate and reject God’s word in this lifetime will soon resent that decision come judgment day. These same people will have wished they listened to God’s chosen people and then gave their lives over to Jesus, who is our Savior, while they still had time.

Isaiah also wrote, “and therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:18-21) “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. Behold, the name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire.” (Isaiah 30:26,27) God loves His people and is able to lead them into safety. Therefore, their reward is in heaven. However, the wicked will soon see God’s anger and fiery indignation in His return and come judgment day. I would not want to be these people, for the lake of fire is their final destination for all eternity.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will earnestly seek Your hand. That they will find You once and for all and give their lives to You also. That nothing will be held back. Surely, their time is now to seek Your hand and gain Your respect for them also. To all people who think they have sinned too much and are past the point of Your forgiveness, I plead for them to call upon Your Name. You had mercy upon my soul, even though my sins were very serious. Even to the point of almost losing my marriage and my kids. But there was mercy and forgiveness for a wretch like me. Praise God. And if I am worthy of Your presence, then anybody can be. Lord, this world is wicked and full of people who despise You, Your witnesses, and Your teachings. We even have people who say they are Christian, but hardly ever read the Bible or pray. They are what I would call a Sunday Christian, and very lukewarm as is. They can appear one way at church, but then walk entirely different throughout the week. They are nothing different than a person of this world. And so we have these people joined in with this wicked generation. People need to understand that we cannot straddle the fence and think we are saved. They must choose their side whom they will serve. And my prayer is that they will choose to believe in and follow You, Jesus. Then, will they allow You to guide and direct their lives and be saved. You are my God and I will follow You. Even until the end of my days will I walk in Your light. I love You. Amen.
