Jesus Is the Messiah, Who Is Called Christ

The people of the Old Testament knew that the Messiah would one day come into the world.  Then, they believed He would rule and reign on earth as King. But did you know that they knew that the word Messiah meant Christ? They sure did. In the gospels, many people said that Christ would come into the world, which is the Messiah. For example, when Jesus was talking to the woman at the well, she said, “I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.” (John 4:25) Of which Jesus said that he is the promised Messiah or the Christ. “Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.” (John 4:26) And Martha also confirmed that Jesus is the Messiah, who is Christ, and also the Son of God. “She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.” (John 11:27) Even before Jesus started his ministry people went up to John the Baptist and asked him if he was the Christ. It reads, “and as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.” (Luke 3:15,16) This we know that John was referring to Jesus, who was mightier than he, and who would baptize us all with the Holy Spirit. The people began to be filled with the Holy Ghost after Jesus’s resurrection. The day of Pentecost is a great example of this.

It was during the time that Jesus was being accused by the Scribes and Pharisees, that he was asked about him being the Christ and the son of the living God. It reads, “but he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. (Mark 14:61,62) It was then that “the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.” (Mark 14:63-65) They were very upset with Jesus and thought he blaspheming the scriptures, saying he was the Messiah and the Son of the Living God. However, it is clear that Jesus is the Messiah, which means Christ. At the end of John, it is written, “and many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” (John 20:30,31) Do you believe this? If so, then make Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life. He is the promised Messiah, which is Christ. All those that come unto Him will have eternal life. Therefore, give your whole life to Jesus and you shall be saved. You will not regret this choice.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that more people will begin to acknowledge You as their Lord God and Savior. You did come into the world to save us from our sins. It was prophesied of hundreds of years before You actually came and myriads of people were waiting. Though most of the Jewish people did not believe in You and therefore lifted You up on a cross, they did not know that this one sacrifice would change everything. Because You were scourged, spit upon, and suffered and died on the cross, our sins can also be forgiven. You put a stop to all the animal sacrifices, for You the last sacrifice for sin. Even the Lamb of God, You are called. Wow! You are such a great God. Thank You, Jesus. I come to You now in anthems of praise. You are holy, so I cry holy! It is my desire for You to come and abide in my life forever. Shine down upon me, that people of all the world will see You in me and rejoice. There is salvation and it comes through Your Name alone. How can people follow men who will only lead them astray, when we could be led by You, oh Lord? I will never understand why people make different things and people the Lord of their lives, when You stand idly by. Why do people desert You, oh Lord when You are waiting to save them from destruction. If people would just fall down upon their knees in all their confessions, would You show Yourself unto them. They would know that You are God and that salvation can only come through You. I believe in You. I trust in You. I love You. Amen.
