How To Make The Devil Leave

There is only one way that we can make the devil leave us alone. It is to stay in the light of Jesus. Reading God’s Word, praying, and listening to good Christian music helps this.  He has no power over us when we are armored with God and His power. However, there is no power to resist temptation when we continue doing things that are worldly and sinful in nature. Therefore, if we are not willing to give up some things for Jesus’s sake, Satan will come and lead us far from God. You see, he comes like a roaring lion, reading to devour anyone who is not abiding in the Holy Spirit. As Peter said, “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:8-11) This does mean giving up things like using drugs like smoking, crack, marijuana, and others like this, in order for our mind to remain clear. Also, I would steer away from drinking alcohol, for too much beer, wine or hard liquor will cause your judgment to be impaired. This is just the beginning of getting your life in order for serving God. We must make sure that nothing is holding us back from following Jesus. This includes spending less time on our phones and TV. Put God first, my friends.

Along with giving up doing drugs, and alcohol, we also make sure that sexual sin is not prevalent in our lives. This means not giving in to our lustful passions that involve having sex outside of marriage, committing adultery with another person’s spouse, and looking at pornography. All these things cause us to be very distant from God. So how can we get out of this rut and find ourselves followers of God instead? It starts with daily Bible Study and worship, along with praying often. This will lead us to find good friends in the faith that we can spend time with. And in doing so, we humble ourselves down enough to listen to their advice. While we are in sin or striving to be in God’s will, it is important to take good Christians’ advice on different matters in life. Peter also said, “likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:5-7) I love how Peter put this. We need to learn to submit to our elders in the faith. This is showing our humility and our desire to grow in our faith. This is what church is like. We come together in fellowship that we may grow together as a community of God like believers. This is how our fleshly nature is put to rest, while we also remain sober-minded. This is what God intends for our lives. Now, the question is, are you ready to go all-in for Jesus? I pray that you are. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will put You in our remembrance at all times and in places. That You will not be distant in our lives, but close to our hearts. Only when we draw near unto You, can You draw near unto us. We cannot continue in our sinful ways and think that You are ok with our lives. Just like the prodigal son did, we ought to repent and come back to You for forgiveness. Then, can our lives get back in order again. You are able to raise us up into newness of life all over again if we would just put our trust in You. I know that all things are possible for those people who seek Your hand and don’t lose heart in You. Prayer is also so important, but so often it is forgotten altogether. Sure, people pray over food as a family ritual, but personal and family prayer is what is lacking. The same goes for Bible study. People do so well at church with finding time to read Your Word, but at home, this is another story. Because their phone, TV, computer, and other devices take their attention, You are left in the dark. So again, I ask every person who says they are a believer why they cannot put You first? How come other things are more important to them when only You can save their soul from hell? I just wish that people would decide, once and for all, to go all in. That they would understand what they are putting ahead of You and cast them aside altogether if needed. And if there is good to come out of these devices still, help them find ways to use them for personal growth and ministry reasons. Sometimes the thing we use don’t have to be cast out, but how we use them needs to change. And You know exactly how that can happen. We just need to reach out to You for answers. I love You, Lord. I believe in You. Amen.
