Celebrating Jesus’s Birth, Not Santa

The true meaning of Christmas is to remember Jesus’s birth. To put anything before Him like Satan Clause is wrong. We are only lying to our kids when we have them trust in a made-up person instead of Jesus this time of year. For this reason, do I make sure my children know the importance of Jesus all year long. I don’t take a break during a specific season and have them focus on Santa instead. And in saying that, let’s dive deep into how Jesus was born, that we might dedicate this time of year to celebrating Him and His birth, not the way the world celebrates Christmas. In Matthew, chapter 1, it reads, “now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.” (Matthew 1:18-20) So Joseph saw that Mary was already pregnant even though they had not been together sexually yet. Therefore, his trust in her went out the window. Thankfully, it was revealed to him by an angel as to why Mary was pregnant, which is by the Holy Spirit. This changed everything, for he now knew that she was carrying somebody very special, even God Himself.

It is also written in Matthew 1, “and she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.” (Matthew 1:21-25) So at this point, Joseph’s eyes were opened, that he might know who Mary was carrying in her belly was really God manifested in the flesh. That it was prophesied by Isaiah that a virgin would bring forth a child, even Emmanuel, who is God with us. And this same God, who would be called Jesus, is the ultimate sacrifice for sin. It was revealed to him that Jesus would save His people from their sins. And as we know, Jesus was crucified and bled and died for our sins. Because of his sacrifice, there was no more need for any more animal sacrifices. What a revelation that Joseph received from the angel of the Lord. It was after he saw this dream that He did not hesitate to take Mary to wife. Then, when her son was born, He was called Jesus. It is because Jesus came into the world, that we celebrate His coming into the world each year. Only through Jesus, our God, and Savior, can we be saved. Praise Him!

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will remember why we celebrate Christmas. And that is because of You, Jesus, and Your majestic birth. Our sins are forgiven because of Your ultimate sacrifice for sins on the cross. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Lord. I just pray that in every Christian family that we are not focused on anything else but You, Jesus. This is a special time for us to remember Your birth, and I pray that we will not give in to the world’s standards. Santa Clause is all the rage during this holiday season. There are many movies and TV shows about Santa and his reindeer. Even do children sit on a person’s lap who calls himself Santa at malls and other places. Where many people also put a figurine of Santa on their tree and blown up figures outside their houses. Wow! What a mockery to You, God. How can people lie to their children, and have them believe in a made-up person, which is a false god? This false god has been created to do things like you do, which is to know when we are good or bad, to receive our letters, and to bring us gifts. Wow, oh wow, how can people believe in this trash? All this is, are people trying to replace You with a figure that isn’t even real. For only You can see our every action, hear our prayers, and give us good gifts. There is no substitute for what You can do for us, but again, the media is always trying to remove You and replace You with other things. So, Lord, I pray that people will see how wrong this really is and no longer allow their children to see Santa. That they will no longer play shows with Santa in them. And that if we have a tree, that it is filled up with things that honor You alone. For God, we worship You and not the idols of this world. We love You and honor You, this day and forever. Amen.
