The Cross

As Christians, we know there is power in the cross. However, people who are unsaved do not realize this fact. It was Paul who also said, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18) That is why the cross is part of the gospel message that we are told to preach to all the world. That gospel message is explained by Paul also. “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-8) Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected the third day. This is the gospel we preach. Even forgiveness of sins through Christ crucified.

To every person that the Lord leads us to, we gladly open our mouths and proclaim the good news of the gospel. That Jesus died for mine and their sins also. He cares so much for us, as to breathe life into our souls and save us from this wretched world that we live in. As Jesus said, “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:15-18)  Many people need to hear this message of hope and be baptized. It is sad that the truth of the cross is downgraded in our society at churches. It is because of false teachers that many people who say they believe in Jesus hate the cross. They can’t even stand looking at one. I know people in my family like this and it is very sad that they think this way. Surely, these people are unsaved, as Paul said above, for it is foolishness to them. Now, as for us, the cross is the power of God unto salvation. Look to Jesus, my friends, and confess your sins to Him today. There is mercy and forgiveness to be found by the hand of the Lord unto salvation. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am honored to be so loved by You and the Father. Thank You for loving me first, even before I came into this world. The cross speaks volumes of Your love for me. I am so grateful that You, Father, sent Jesus into the world, in order to usher in grace and truth. Because Jesus came, there is forgiveness and mercy. You are so such a great God. Thank You, Jesus, for paying the price for the sins of the world. We don’t deserve what You did for us but accept it with open arms. We are amazed that You would want to save a wretch like us. Thank You! For that reason do we submit our lives to You, Jesus. You are our Lord and our Savior, and we give You praise. Do what You will for our lives, that we might walk in Your light and no longer in darkness. May Your ways always become our ways. Keep us in Your light as You are in the light, oh God. Lead us from temptation and help us withstand every ounce of deceitfulness found in this world. We no longer wish to be like unto the wicked, but for You to help us stand apart. Breathe in us the Holy Spirit, that we might be born again. Yours is the kingdom and we pray that the kingdom will enter our lives also. Take us by the hand and do a mighty work in us. We love You. We believe in You unto salvation. Amen.
