Living For God Each Day

Take heart my friends and continue in your faith towards God. Life is hard, but as long as Christ is in us, there are still better things in store for us. We may not know how to rectify an issue in our life or marriage right now, but God knows how to. What matters is if we are pursuing Him or not. How often do we get caught up with going to church on the weekends and think that we are good during the week when really we have left our first love. How can this be, you may wonder? It is because, for many people, what they portray at church isn’t the same thing they portray outside of those walls. It is like they are putting on a good front for other Christians for a couple of hours, but when approached during the week it an entirely different story. The person may be confrontational or argumentative, instead of wanting to talk. They may say vulgar things like swear words or even do things like drink alcohol, which leads them to get drunk. And I have not even gotten to their time spent in their homes. Where is their daily service to God when all they do is watch TV (including movies, sports, Netflix, YouTube, and others), play video games and mobile apps, surf the web, and spend time on social media sites? The answer is He is not involved in lives like this. This is because seeking God’s hand, while reading the Bible daily, praying often, and doing as God says is left out.

How can a person believe they are saved if they don’t live each day for Jesus? Sure, we can slip up and fall into sin, but that does not give us a right to justify it over time. We don’t just stay in our sinful nature, but instead, allow God to exterminate every wicked part in us. This is through confessing our sins to the Lord and asking Him for forgiveness. Friends, if we do this with a sincere heart, God will set us apart for Him. Yes, a life that is fruitful for His kingdom. To help you understand this better, Jesus said, “blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6) Do you hunger and thirst for the things of God or the things of this world? “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16) We cannot be in God’s light if we are not living for Him and His righteousness day in and day out. We are God’s lights in this darkened world, but only if we give up certain things in our daily walk for Him. This is giving Him our precious time and also blessing others in the meantime. Think twice before you walk into places with headphones on also. You need to hear others and they need to hear you. You don’t know who you will bless next because you paid attention to someone in need.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will learn what it means to run to You. Yes, God! I pray that people will run from their sinful state and into Your marvelous arms of mercy. If we don’t have You, then who do we have instead? I am afraid that too many people are into the things of this world and have left their first love. Where other things have filled their lives instead of pursuing You daily in reading the Bible, praying often, and doing as You have called them. We can make a huge impact for Your kingdom on earth if people would just listen to You. So many people have started to shut out the world with their headphones on when there are people all around them who could be blessed if people just knew what they were going through. Sure, there is a time and a place when we need our time away from the world, but You have also called us to be Your lights in this darkened world. And how can we do this, if everywhere we go we have our earbuds or headphones on and the world is continually blocked out? As for me, God, I am grateful for those many opportunities I’ve had to pray or witness with someone because I heard them speaking and was bold enough to talk with them. You have even blessed many of them to be healed and feel Your peace overflow upon them also in these moments. I am grateful for every opportunity I have to serve You. I love You, Jesus. I pray Your Holy Name. Amen.
