A Member Of Christ’s Body

Being a member of Christ’s body or church is vital to being saved. For if we do not associate with Jesus in this way, I would also ask them if they believe that Jesus is Lord or not. It is because Paul said, “wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” (1 Corinthians 12:3) Therefore, if the person is cursing Jesus, by saying the name of God in vain, they are not His. This very act of cursing God means that the Holy Spirit is not with them. However, if they watch their tongue and give praise to Jesus, who is Lord. And these people don’t just say this when asked but are continuing to call upon Jesus, who is Lord, in worship and prayer. These same people are a part of Christ’s body. They may have different spiritual gifts, but combined, God’s people are performing His works on earth in a marvelous way. This is why fellowshipping with other believers in the church is so important.

When we understand the importance of our own spiritual gifts, then working for God will come naturally over time. This is when we learn to treat others in the church with kindness and compassion also. If they are suffering, we go to help them and shed tears as they shed tears. We rejoice also when things are going well with people. We know that we will never be as gifted in certain areas as others, but give God thanks for the gifts that we have been given. Paul said, “And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” (1 Corinthians 12:26-31) It is my prayer that you think upon the verses above and what was already addressed and use your spiritual gifts.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that each one of us in the faith will allow You to use us for Your kingdom. Being part of Your body in the church is so important in my life, and I pray that it is like this for others also. That people will find out their own spiritual giftings for their lives. There is something special about to be bestowed upon believers if they would just lean on You for answers in their lives. When You become important to us, is when we are able to be taught and led by You, Jesus, who is our Lord and our God. I worship You, Jesus, and give You praise and glory. I honor You, dear Savior. You are the Christ, who took away the sins of the world, while on the cross. Thank You for Your sacrifice. I owe all to You. For this reason, I serve You willingly without the need for a reward or recognition. It is my prayer that You will continue to fill me up in the Holy Spirit. Lead me in the spiritual gifting for my life. I trust in You. I love You. Amen.
