Mother’s Day Celebration

When I think of my blood mother, stepmother, and my wife, I think of all the things they have all done for me over the many years. As for my two different mothers, they raised me up to know God. They both bent over backwards to get me places I needed to go to and to make sure the house was clean. The only reason I had clean clothes was because of them. They always had a way to make me happy and still do as I get older. I appreciate their love and kindness towards me and my wife and kids. My wife is much like my mothers. She always makes sure my daughter’s homework is done each night and diligently does the laundry and much more in the house. She helps take our two young daughters to school and other places they need to get to. As for me, she is always checking in on me and doing all she can to make me feel loved. Surely what I have seen from my mother’s and my wife is much like what Solomon wrote on in Proverbs 31. He spoke of a virtuous woman and her God-given traits. We will read these verses next.

Solomon said, “strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:25-31) I am sure you are thinking of your own mother/s and/or wife as you read about this godly women that Solomon speaks of. Now it is your moment to tell them how much they mean to you. This can be through letters, email, text, phone calls, or in-person, depending on where they live. This is what God desires of us all. He has given each one of us a dear mother to raise us. For those who are married, we can often see this in our wife also. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that You will be with and keep our mother/s and our wife in Your beloved arms. They are so dear to me and I know that You think of them in the same way. So often do I forget all they do for me and my children and then it dons on me come mother’s day. This doesn’t have to happe, but often does, of which I regret. I do love my dear mother’s and my wife, although my blood mother has passed away this year. Her spirit is no longer with us, but I know that she is in a better place. Lord, thank You for allowing her to raise me to know You, just as You allowed my stepmother to do the same. I am blessed to have both of them in my life for all these forty-some years. My wife is also a blessing. Thank You for bringing her into my life those fifteen years ago. Time has passed so quickly, but I know that You have brought us together and that is why we have stuck around all this time. Lord, help me and my wife learn to love each other in a new way. Help her know that she is loved by me and You today and the rest of my life. I love You, dear Lord. Amen.
