The Life Of A Christian

The life of a Christian should easily be seen among people in the faith and among unsaved people in the world. And so you know what it means to do this, let us read from what Paul said in 1 Timothy, chapter 4, starting with verse 12. It reads, “let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” (1 Timothy 4:12-16) There is so much to learn in these verses. First of all, we need to be an example in what we know in the Bible, including the sacred doctrines, and in what we tell people. Therefore, we read the Bible daily, pray often, and do as God commands us. Our lives are then able to reflect what we have learned each day, not just reading or hearing God’s Word, but giving heed to God’s principles and doctrines also. When God’s Words become a lamp unto our feet, we will even learn how to love others and to walk in purity. This is when our faith comes to life through the Holy Spirit in us.

It is so important that we do not neglect God’s gifts in us. We have all been given specific gifts of the Spirit, in order to be a servant for the Lord in His church. After we are baptized, the gift of the Holy Spirit is able to come into our lives. This is often done when one or more people put their hands upon us and pray that we receive the Holy Spirit. It is given unto us through prophecy, of which God is able to confirm the giftings of the Spirit upon us. Now, go forth and meditate upon these verses and the devotional that you just read. Allow yourself to be humble enough to be led by God in these things. When you are given over to do God’s will, which is to read the Bible daily, pray often, seek His hand in all things, and then do as He says, you are blessed. He is even able to lead you from temptation because you have allowed God into your lives. Now, remember to give heed to the doctrines of the Bible and not the doctrines of men. Continue in them, as Paul directed. Through your continued faith in Jesus, your soul will be saved. God will even do greater things in your life, by also saving others through our influence upon their lives. This means shining your light for all to see. Don’t just say you believe, but live it out in a way that every person that meets you will wonder what you have that they do not. God bless you, my friends. Go forth in faith and continue to trust in Jesus.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, help me shine Your lights for all to see. You are my God and I wish to bring others to know You. Thank You for saving my soul, by forgiving me of all my sins. I don’t deserve Your love, but You continue to be patient throughout my life. I know there are days that I struggle and can’t find my way, and I am grateful that You have given me a roadmap to live by, which is the Bible. Whenever I feel like temptation is too strong, picking up the Bible and reading it really helps. You have certainly done a great work in the lives of every writer and person referred to in the Holy Bible. I am just grateful to have Your guidance in my life. Even through prayer, You have helped me gain more insight when it comes to each verse’s doctrines and teachings. I love to learn and to be led by You is something special. You have allowed the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth, of which I love to teach on and lead people to know for themselves. The Spirit of God is upon me, and I pray that many more souls will see You in me and be saved. Help us all to walk in Your holiness, purity, and righteousness. That we will not despise what You have called us to in the faith, but live it out daily. If people are not reading the Bible daily, may they begin today. If they are not praying often, may they begin today also. You are the light that shines in my life, and I pray that Your light will enter others also. I love You. Amen.
