In 2 Timothy, chapter 3, Paul prophesied about the last days, even this very generation that we are living in now. It surely is remarkable how Paul knew so much about our time without even living in it. And as you read these verses with me, you will also see what I mean. Starting with verse 1 it reads, “this know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5) The people that were just mentioned are not on God’s side, for they have chosen to follow after the things of this world instead of God. That is why they have departed from the faith. Many people have become lovers of their own selves and are without natural affection. You can think of people who look at porn and masturbate, have sexual relations with the same sex in homosexuality, and are transgender. These types of individuals have not repented of their sins and are on God’s list of people who love their flesh more than Him. That is why they often leave the faith or are struggling to stay in it because of sin.
Recently, I spoke of two personality traits that lead people to leave the faith behind, but now let’s look at a few more traits of the wicked. People who are into pornography, and are part of the LGBTQ movement, are also disobedient to their parents. For they know that if they were caught, they would get in trouble. They do this because they are lovers of pleasure more than God. Speaking of homosexuals, they are known for their pride, for they even celebrate Pride Month in June. They boast in their sinful ways and covet those things that are evil. It is because of this that they cannot live a holy life unto God, for God cannot live in us if we are in sin. People can act like they are saved because of their faith, but their sinful lifestyle leads me to believe that they love their sins more than God. That is why they have a form of godliness, but the Holy Spirit is not in them. This was known about them since the time of Paul when he wrote these verses, that they are proud and, therefore, do not know God. Now, what happens when I try to share the gospel with a homosexual person? They often despise the things of God that come from the Bible. People who are straight and look at porn are also in trouble with God. We should never think that we are ok with God if we willfully sin, but the exact opposite. So, begin to get right with God if you have not done so already. Forgiveness and mercy are waiting.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will begin to wake up to their sins. I am afraid that too many people who believe they are saved are not. That because they live in a willful sinful state, they have chosen a life without You. If they simply got a slap in the face or water splashed in their faces, maybe they would wake up and say sorry. Yes, God, You deserve to hear our sincere confessions, not a person confessing to their priest in order to just do the same sinful act again. This is meaningless and I cannot believe this blasphemy is still happening today. Where is purity in people’s lives? Are people even desirous to live a life pleasing in Your sight anymore? I know that I am but am also ridiculed as being a Jesus freak because of it. If people just knew what they were saying, then they would also want to be a Jesus freak also. What does this mean, it means that I want to live in Your presence and do Your will above all. The flesh is weak, but it does not have to ruin what I have with You, God. I’ve been addicted to pornography before, but I know how it turned my heart away from You, so it has become wicked in my sight. Along with this sin, the sin of homosexuality is plaguing this world like a sore thumb. What is even more awful is that there are churches that support it. Wow! I still cannot believe churches have stooped so low. Wake them up, oh Lord. I believe in You. I trust in You. I love You. Amen.
