The Father On His Throne With Jesus

In Revelation, chapter 4, it can be hard to identify who the person is that is sitting on the throne. For it appears to be Jesus, but really is the Father. We know this as we read the next chapter, for it talks about the “Son of Man” who came into the midst of the Father and the angels, of which takes and opens the book. We will get into this later. Now, we also know that the Father is the person sitting on the throne because of Daniel, chapter 7. We will get to those verses in this message. As for what the Father looks like in this chapter, it reads, “and immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.” (Revelation 4:2-6) I love this description of the Father. It helps us gain more appreciation for our God and also give Him glory.

So let us now compare what we saw with John’s vision of the Father on the throne with what Daniel also saw. You will see how these two visions match up. It is written, “beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.” (Daniel 7:9,10) “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.” (Daniel 7:13) So we have the Father sitting on His throne in heaven. He is white as snow and glowed like a jasper stone. We learn that fire comes from his throne, along with a rainbow round about it. Tens of thousands of angels are before Him, where twenty-four elders sat on their seats before Him, along with seven archangels. In their midst, we learn that Jesus, who is the Son of Man, comes as the lamb of God. What He does and receives, we will learn more about in Revelation, chapter 5, along with Daniel, chapter 7. Jesus did come to save us as we will learn next. It is up to people to come unto Him and be saved. Will you follow Jesus? He is waiting. Amen.

Let us pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, I come to You today in honor and praise. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to earth, in order to save us from our sins. This was the greatest sacrifice of all. For one on Your part for sending Your only begotten Son to shed His blood and die for mankind. You didn’t have to do this but knew that it had to happen in order to end the shedding of blood through animals. Your Son, Jesus, who I also give praise, is the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. Thank You for sending Him on our behalf, God. This must have been hard to see Your Son suffer and die on our behalf. I get choked up just thinking about what Jesus did for me. Therefore, I also give Him thanks as I give You thanks this day and forever. You are my God and I worship You. Lord Jesus, thank You for saving a wretch like me. The blood You shed on the cross has covered my sins and I am able to look forward in faith. Not that I have done anything on my own, but that You have given me the power to resist temptation and live a new life for You. In my flesh, I am not worthy of what You want to do with me here on earth and in heaven. Only as I walk in the Spirit are things different. Your presence is near and I am able to do much more than I ever thought was possible. There is true hope and a new beginning found in You, God. It is my prayer that others will also find You and put their whole trust in You and be saved. You have touched my life and I love You. Thank You, God. I honor and praise You. Amen.
