God Is Our Shield And Our Great Reward

Let us learn from what the Lord said unto Abram in verse 1 in Genesis 15. God’s words to Abram are so beautiful that I cannot stop reading them. It is like the Lord is speaking to me through this verse. So if you have not highlighted this verse yet, please do. It reads, “after these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” (Genesis 15:1) Many times we doubt God because of different circumstances in our lives. It could be because of a job loss, financial issues, a miscarriage, not being able to have children, a death in the family, continuing sickness, news of cancer, and much more. In these trying times, God wants to let you know that He is our shield and thy great reward. Look to the Lord in faith and you will also be guided through these trials. And if it is God’s will, then we will pull through and have our rewards afterward physically. And if not seen with our natural eyes, then spiritual blessings will reign down upon you nonetheless. With God in our lives, we will gain the power to overcome all things, even the power of the evil one upon our lives.

As for Abram, he was sad because he and his wife were childless and they were now in their later years in life. With that said, Abram brought this issue to the Lord. Here is how it went down. “And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” (Genesis 15:2-6) It was God that helped Abram realize that he didn’t have to worry having no children, for it would come in due time. Abram believed this and it was counted unto him righteousness before God. And for You also, I pray that you rely upon the Lord, our God, and look to Him for answers in your life. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I give you thanks for this beautiful day. You were the one that directed my path while I was at work. We had a big job ahead of us, but thankfully You kept giving me the answers I needed, in order to get it done on time. I know it was You that gave me the answers I needed as I was praying all throughout. Surely, You are my God and my great reward. Many times it is through Your guidance and direction that I am able to do so much more. I may not always say and do the right things and am sorry. Thank You for continuing to use me for Your glory nonetheless. My flesh is weak, but with the Holy Spirit in my life I am made strong. It is my prayer that You use me and my family for Your glory. Take our hands now and do a mighty work in our lives. I lift my wife and my two daughters to You. Help them also heed your warnings that they may do what is right. All I desire is to live uprightly for You, and I pray that this is the same desire from those I love. I deeply love You, Lord. I need your holiness in my life. Keep me from evil. You are my deliverer and I trust in You. Nothing I’d rather have than to see and be with You in person. Amen.
