Abraham Ate With the Lord And Two Angels

Genesis, chapter 18, is the second time that Abraham has eaten with the Lord. The first time was with Melchizedek, who is interpreted as king of peace, king of righteousness, having no beginning of days or end of life, which we know to be Jesus. This happened in Genesis, chapter 14. And the interpretation I just gave you comes from Hebrews, chapter 7. But this time, Jesus brought with him two angels also. The same angels would then go into Sodom before it was destroyed. This story reads, “and the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, and said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts.” (Genesis 18:1-5) This must have been an amazing encounter that Abraham would never forget.

Just imagine how you would feel if Jesus came to your door by himself or with angels round about him. It is hard to imagine, myself, but I would be ecstatic. Some of you would feel unprepared and want him to come back when you are. But if you are a true Christian, then living your life for Jesus is so important. This way you will be ready to see Jesus when you die in judgment. Otherwise, fear will kick in, for you will know where you will be going next. As for Abraham’s encounter with the Lord, he said to the Lord, “after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.” (Genesis 18:5-8) Now, pray that you will be ready to sit down and dine with the Lord also. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that You will, one day, come to me in person and dine with me and my family. I wish that I could be privileged to have a similar encounter that Abraham had with You. He was so blessed to hear Your voice and to also see You in person. I can’t even imagine how must have been like. It must have taken his breath away just to see You. I am in awe just thinking about what must have taken place with You and Abraham those few times that You met up and ate together. I know that one day I will see You in person come judgment day. But may it be a rewards judgment and not based on works. Lord, you have my heart, my soul, and my mind. I give everything I have to serve and worship You. You are my King and I wish everyone could know you personally as I do in the Spirit. While in the Spirit, You have come and taught me many things that I will never forget. There is so much wisdom to gain, but only from Your hand will it be good enough to bring with us in the next life. My treasures come from heaven and not from this earth. I love You more than anything else I could ever achieve in this life. My fortune and comforts come from You alone. Amen.
