Giving Thanks To God For His Mercy

As it is Thanksgiving, it is a tradition in America to give thanks. However, as believers in Jesus, our attention is turned to God in giving Him thanks for his many blessings in our lives. I once was grateful for what I had but didn’t include God in those things. How different is my life now, since everything I have now I give the Lord glory and praise. He has done great things in my life. Especially am I grateful for His mercy and grace. David knew this also and said, “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 136:1-4) How merciful God is upon us as sinners. We keep coming back to God and His mercy is still for us. The moment that God forgives us for something because of our sincere confessions and turning from our sins, our thanks for His mercy should be upon our lips.

Just as we read with David giving thanks to God, Paul the apostle was all about this also. He wrote unto every believer and said, “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20) “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” (Colossians 3:15) “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 4:2) The Lord is so good, my friends. His mercy does endure forever. No matter what we have done or will do, His forgiveness is for us, as long as we come back to Him. I am filled with gratitude and praise towards the Lord, my God. He is the only one who is capable of changing me from the inside out. I was lost in my false beliefs and transgressions, but the Lord came and changed everything. He has planted me on the path of righteousness, with Him at the head. I give God the Father and Jesus thanks. I would not be here today without God in my life.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, thank You for saving my soul. I was so lost before You found me. I had many things going for my life that the world would deem as good, but none of it had You at the head. And so I became lost in my sins for many years of my life. There was no escape from the torments of the enemy. However, this all changed the moment that I gave You my life. I can still remember that day like it was today. In my tears did I cry out to You in all my confessions. I said, Lord, if You don’t wish to forgive me, I will understand. Just know that I am sorry for the things I am done and hope that one day You will have mercy upon my soul. Tears were streaming down my face as I mentioned how much I hated the things I had done and wished that You would change me. Little did I know that You were just waiting to know that I was sincere in my confessions. I will never forget that day. It was like You put Your arms around me and I felt so much warmth, joy, love, and peace. Still to this day are You for me. You have not forsaken me. Truly, Your mercy endures forever. I love You, Lord. Be with me this day and forevermore. Amen.
