Jesus’s Birth Prophecy: Isaiah 9

About 700 years before Jesus’s birth, it was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah. These prophecies are written starting in Isaiah, chapter 7 through 9. Now, for this message, we will focus our time on chapter 9. This is the most spoken of all of Jesus’s birth prophecies thanks to Handle’s Messiah and the song, “for Unto Us A Child Is Born”. Those lyrics are the following, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6,7)

These lyrics/verses are so beautiful for we learn so much more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through each of these verses. According to Isaiah, Jesus is our counselor, our mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Lord, and our Judge. As Christians, we know all this about Jesus, especially the Father, since Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit are three persons in one God. This is the definition of the trinity. Jesus also said, “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” (John 14:11) Jesus did fulfill everything that was spoken of about Him in Isaiah. This same Jesus died for sins on the cross and then rose from the grave. Every person that will make Him Lord of their lives shall be saved. Come unto Jesus if you have not already. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will remember You during this Christmas season. Right now there are so many ads on TV about Santa Clause, reindeer, the north pole, and movies and music associated with all this. What is very sad is that so-called Christians bring their kids to sit on Santa’s lap, while telling them that Santa is coming for Christmas. This is just hard to believe, God. I wish that I could help every person that says they believe in You, that the only good thing to do on Christmas is to remember Your birth, Jesus. If people could simply learn to do this during this season, then they would learn to appreciate what You have done for them every day of the year. Thankfully, You have come and saved me. All I wish to do now is lead people to You, Jesus. Your Spirit is in me and this desire to serve You comes from Your mighty hand. I love You, Lord. Lead me all my days. I trust in You, God. I love You. Amen.
