Jesus Is The Everlasting Father

Many people sing the song “For Unto Us A Child Is Born” around Christmas season. However, since this is speaking of Jesus and His birth, there has been a mystery surrounding the words, “everlasting Father”. This is that verse that gets people scratching there heads. It reads, “for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6) So we learn that Jesus is called wonderful, counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. These are all characteristics of our Lord and none should ever be taken away from Him, lest they blaspheme His Name on earth as it is in heaven. As for being God, Jesus said this Himself. Speaking to the people, “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” (John 8:58) This is in reference to the “Great I Am”. “God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.” (Exodus 3:14) Therefore, Jesus is God.

Jesus was born of Mary, but came forth from His eternal Father. Therefore, Jesus is the first or most important of all creation. Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8) “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last.” (Revelation 1:17) Jesus is the first person to come from the Father and the Holy Spirit, and then to rise from the grave.  Our Heavenly Father also gave Jesus all authority to be the creator of everything in heaven and earth. The Father is with the Son, but Jesus has gone forth and created the angels, people, animals, and everything else in this earth and in heaven.  This is how He is also our Father.  It is written, “who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.” (Colossians 1:15,16) Therefore, Jesus is our eternal Father, being our creator. He is my Lord, God, and King also. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Your work will continue on earth as it is in heaven. I am Your servant and You are my God. I will go forth and do your will no matter what befalls me. I love Your words in scripture. I have learned so much about You, Jesus. How you are so wonderful, our counselor, mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. I know that many people leave out the fact that You are our mighty God and the everlasting Father, but this is so wrong when people do this. Yes, Lord, I love to speak to people about You, but it rubs me so wrong when people deny that You are God, Jesus. This truly is denying everything You have said while You were on earth and all throughout the Bible. As for me, I believe everything the Bible says, not just bits and pieces that conform to my own beliefs. What is in Your Words are holy, and to discount some of the verses or chapters would be terrible for me to do. Therefore, I will proclaim what You have spoken in scripture to every person I can. Through social media, my website, and in person, the good news of the gospel and Your teachings will be published throughout all the nations. Only You can help me do this. I trust in You. I love You. Amen.
