Wars And Rumors Of Wars

Today is a time of reflection upon what is happening now and what may soon happen in the future. As we all know, Russia has recently attacked the country of Ukraine. And as of now, the death toll is around 130 people or more, which we should mourn together for their losses. Speaking of this invasion, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has also said that if any country comes to the defense of Ukraine, they will attack that country also. And so we are hearing about possible wars in our own countries if our troops go in to help. If you look at the headlines certain places are saying that this invasion could lead to World War 3. This may or not be true, but what we do know is that this is the biggest invasion of a country since World War 2. This is alarming and brings up the reasons why there rumors of this war getting bigger. What does this remind you of? Jesus spoke about these times. If you’ve read the book of Matthew recently, you would know that Jesus warned us that before His second coming, nations will rise against another. I will read these verses next, for this means that Jesus may be coming soon.

The disciples of Jesus asked our Lord the following question, “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:3-8) We have already experienced, and are still experiencing the coronavirus, which has taken millions of lives worldwide. And around this timeframe, Jesus said that there will be famines, earthquakes, and wars. The Lord saw this day we are living in and knew it would be hard. It is the beginning of sorrows as Jesus said. One thing I know is that Jesus never lies. Live your life for the Lord and you will not only be saved but also comforted with His peace in your lives. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, give us peace in the times we are living in. As I speak, there is a country in disarray that needs Your help. With Ukraine being attacked by Russia, I am very saddened and pray that You comfort these people who are afflicted by the blasts and gunfire in that country. I know that there are many people in hiding and I pray that they will find shelter and a place where they can be safe from the enemy. Lord, wherever these people are, bring them strength. Help our own countries leaders also to make the best choices for their people. I would hate to see this end up in a World War 3, but I know that anything could happen at this point. So what I want now, Lord, is for You to make us fearless to the advances of the enemy. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but a sound mind. I believe in You, God. We may not be in heaven yet, but I know that it is at the doors for many of us who love You. Help us to stay strong in the faith no matter what happens in the future. Surely, our faith will be tested. So lead us from temptation. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. You do this, Lord. I love You, God. Amen.
