Sacrificial Offerings And The Sprinkling Of Blood

The sacrificial offerings that God instructed Moses in are also spoken about and explained even better in the book of Hebrews, 1 Peter, and other places. An important ordinance that was performed in the tabernacle was animal sacrifices. This was done in the tabernacle by a high priest, of which God called and anointed to officiate in these ordinances. Aaron was one of those men. It is written, “and thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram. Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about. And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.” (Exodus 29:19-21)

Notice how in Exodus that when an animal was sacrificed before the Lord that their blood was also sprinkled upon the altar, upon the high priest, his sons, and others. It was for the cleansing of sin, of which was in representation of Jesus’s sacrifice for sin on the cross. It is written, “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.” (1 Peter 1:1-4) Jesus is the last sacrifice for sin, and our faith in Him allows His blood to also be sprinkled upon us, while making us clean. Only through the blood of Jesus, can we be saved. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Your blood will cover not just myself, but every person in my family. That every one of my family members will come to You in all their confessions. Then, can they be made clean through Your blood. Over these many years, it has been a struggle to get anybody in my family to listen to me when it comes to You, Jesus. I have been ridiculed by almost all of them at least once, and although it has been hurtful I have no hard feelings towards any of them. They may call me a Jesus freak or other mean things, but it still won’t stop me from sharing Your gospel message with them. There are some doors that are closed off to me now, and I pray that they will one day be opened up to me again. I don’t want anybody to miss the day of their salvation because of their pride. It is so true, God, that I can’t change anybody or lead anybody to You by myself. I need Your hand in my life. Only through the Holy Spirit can people come to Your table and be saved. Speak through me and help me walk in Your ways day in and day out. I love You, Lord. I trust in You, God. Amen.
