God Sanctified His Tabernacle And the Priests

The order from God to the priests in the tabernacle was not to be taken lightly. This was pertaining to the animal sacrifices that would be performed on the altar. If this ordinance for God would be done throughout every generation until Jesus came, God would meet with them and also sanctify them and HIs tabernacle. It is written, “this shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee. And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory. And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office.” (Exodus 29:42-44) As we will continue to read in Leviticus, the Israelite priests performed these sacrificial offerings at the door of the tabernacle with honor and respect to the God of the heavens. It was not a burden for them, but a joy to do His will on earth as it is in heaven.

The last two verses are the assurance that God would be with His people as long as they continue to do His will. This was pertaining to what would take place near the door of the tabernacle, which it came to the offerings done there. These sacrifices were fulfilling God’s will for His people in the old covenant. These acts of faith would glorify God, and therefore, He would sanctify it and the priests therein also. It is written, “and I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the Lord their God.” (Exodus 29:45,46) The tabernacle and the sacrificial offerings may not be important now, but God dwelling in us, being His temple, and us accepting His sacrifice for us on the cross is vital to our salvation. Therefore, know that animal sacrifices had to happen until the Lamb of God, who is Jesus, would come into the world to sanctify us and take away our sins once and for all. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will have a desire to read all the Bible and not leave out parts like Leviticus and other parts that speak on the sacrificial offerings of animals. These verses help us understand the importance of You, Jesus, coming into the world. There was no sacrifice in the old covenant that could put an end to the animal sacrifices. Only Your sacrifice on the cross meant that no more blood had to be shed. You are the last sacrifice for the sins of the world. No person would ever want to or even carry this type of burden upon themselves, while also carrying it out to fulfillment. They would fail each time. This sacrifice needed to come from someone who was perfect, just like the spotless lambs that were sacrificed in times past. That perfect person is You, God. Thank You for dying on the cross for me, even though it must have been so painful to bear. As You bled and died, You gave me and the rest of the world a chance to be cleansed through Your blood and be saved. Thank You for saving me. I love You, Lord. Amen.
